Thread about my thoughts on the stuttering in games.
It will explain my experiences with my Radeon 9700 Pro as well.

Where's your point there? You just said that the stuttering problem isn't the drivers fault. You should suggest a fix or something in that thread, otherwise it's pointless to state that... IMO

It appears you've fallen into the typical fanATIc trap of, because there is no problem for me, your problems are not caused by your video card. As is evidenced by the large number of people posting about it, it doesn't appear as if this is something that is isolated to a specific motherboard/chipset/other hardware. Plus ATI (or people claiming to be from ATI) themselves said the problem is in the drivers and it's something they intend to fix. What more proof do you need than that?

It appears from that thread that the problem lies in the operating system. I noticed from what I've seen the stutterers are all Windows users, we tuxers from what I've seen don't stutter.

It depends on what you play.

And what games can you play with Linux? :D :p

some stuttering problems were caused by shared irqs...and all that is required is moving pci cards around

A better question is what games can you play with Linux that don't have their basis in either the Quake or Unreal engine?

NeverWinter Nights runs better in Wine/X than it does native in Windows. Warcraft 3 I've heard does the same, Tribes 2 has a linux native version as well. The rest are 2d games where fps doesn't matter and the technology is still primitive enough that it doesn't crash if one sneezes. :p

I seriously do not have stutters man.
There are also a large amount of people saying they also do not have stutters.

That's why I made that post. I think there may be more to it than driver faults. Maybe drivers mixed with something else can cause it?

If it truly were only on Ati's drivers then I would be bitching about stuttering as well. You know what happens when I have a problem don't you? :)

There is no 1 time fix for everyone as I was stating. Some people have fixed up the stuttering by increasing RAM. Others by disabling FW etc...
It has nothing to do with "fanATIc" crap as you say. It's common sense. :)

the majority of r300 owners have no stutters, but of course the ones that say something are the ones who have the problems. in any tech support site you don't find lots of threads saying "wow my (insert random product here) works just fine!", you always find more threads about problems, even if only 10% of the users have them.

Yes, maybe I should stop bragging.
It's just that I am so excited. :)

You ever been really excited to the point you can't stop bragging for weeks or months? :)

I would like to help people who get stutters as well. Even though I tend to brag that I do not get any in my post.

I was bragging like this when I bought my Geforce 3 and no one seemed to mind though. :)

Why now? :(
