iron chef isn't that weird to the rest of the world or people who take their food seriously..
just because your asian does that mean you can't cook french food good? i don't understand your point. these are very internationally respected chefs who own restaurants around the world. the japanese chef dressed in silver owns a very popular restaurant in new york. plus iron chef has tons of american viewers. america's mainstream diet is mc donalds and burger king..far from the class of food in other countries.

Whoa, chief, never said that Asians can't be good French or Italian chefs... But yeah, Morimoto, the Japanese Iron Chef (who worked at Robert de Niro's restaurant before starting his own) is bashed CONSTANTLY for not being a "traditional" Japanese chef. Hell, there was a series of 4 battles I think from some "faction" for the sole purpose of making him look bad because he wasn't Japanese enough.

It's weird because it's like the WWF (WWE, whatever, I don't know anymore) but with cooking instead of wrestling. That's not to say that the WWF/E ISN'T insane, I'm just saying that it's pretty stunning to watch.

And yeah, I watch Iron Chef all the time... Sorry if you interpreted my last post as racist, it's not. But, if you listen to the commentary on Iron Chef, it's full of these subtle undertones (listen to the judges) of rather extreme nationalism...

Ummm Xbox has been rather aggressively marketed, they had a $500MM budget. They have to reach a critical mass, which they are nowhere near. Games drive the industry and they don't have the library of Sony nor the franchises of Nintendo. You have to remember, they just entered the market and their accomplishments to date are pretty respectable.

I think more reliable hardware and better service policies would be a key issue.

Ok let me say this:

First of all the XBOX is not exsactly a console! 80% of its games are PC games that are relesed either 1 month before or after their initial ttm (time to market).

second if u talk about nationalisnm i think that you should look in the US first. The fact that most of u are talking about the Xbox as a US product (witch it by the way is not becouse most of the Xbox software was written outside the US and no consoles are manufactured in the US neither are there components (NVIDIA uses TSMCs fabs and intel has its own fabs mostly in poor 3nd world countrys to keep costs at minimum).

It is true that the Japonese colture is skeptic about foregn products esepecially the us (the the word BIG BOMM ring a bell), but newertheless the depth of the PC-XBOX games isn´t anywere near what a traditional Japonese RPG (Enix and Square,Nintendo,Namco...) offere. Loving caracters diverse stories and sere endless imagination make these games sell.In PC and XBOX games it isn´t the caracters that make the story its the fanncy looking visuals and exactly that doesn´t sell to well in Japan. Eyecandy doesnt make a good game and most of the XBOX games are just that!

On the otherhand M$ has almost limitless resources to buy it self in the game market and they are willing to do so nomater what! There sould be a law against behavioure like that that could force to limit the big companys form buying market share! Oh well the kapitalistic system these days works like this and it seems that we will end up in a world owned by corporations and they will fight wars against each other and becouse of the air polution we will all need to wear masks and well, die of lungcancer. (oops i guess I went to far, but fact is that the games on the other systems are more appealing to Japanese and Europeand demografic and that will continue to be microsofts problem for years to come! (especially in light of the Square-Enix merger and the move of Finaly Fantasy and dragon Quest to the GameCube! :afro2:
