This quote describes liberals very well. They believe George Bush is a bad president because they actually want George Bush to be a bad president. If George Bush actually was a bad president, it would make the liberal party look very good. Liberals only want a good president when the president is a liberal. They care more about their party than their country. When a conservative president is truly doing many wrong things, liberals would celebrate behind our backs since it would hurt the conservative party. Liberals would hurt the conservative party at the cost of their country.

You can blame government in general. I am a conservative. I hold no confidence in any government even one run by conservatives. My point is the Mayor of NO is blasting the president to bail him out. Yet what the hell was the mayor doing? He was ignoring a evacuation plea by the president. The ecacuation plan failed right at the local level first. After that FEMA screwed up. The point is he hates the president like all Dems and wanted to blame him for his mistakes. Democrats have run NO for over 50 years and they want to blame president Bush for this problem? That is BS.
Shoot the NYT was blaming Bush and the Feds for not funding the levies. Yet it was the NYT in the 90s who praised president Clinton for not signing legilation to improve the levies. They called it pork and bad legislation.
They whole point is they are taking this opertunity to slam Bush because they hate him. I say the local government failed and then the Feds failed. It tells me you should rely on your self and not government.

There's nothing that says both the federal and state governments can't share in the accountability. IMO, first and foremost, the state government needs to take on the blame. Ever since Camille hit, the state knew it was in prime territory to be hit by another storm of even greater proportions. Katrina was the proverbial "big one" and the state got caught with its pants down.
At the federal level, the sheer bureaucracy is what has hampered a lot of the efforts. Although I'll never forgive myself for saying this, I somewhat agree with Komrade Hilary Klinton that there needs to be some sort of commission called. I will qualify that statement, though. First, such a thing should not be called until the majority of rescue efforts have been completed. Second, it shouldn't simply focus on Katrina, but on FEMA and Homeland Security as a whole as they relate to natural disaster response.

On Fox New Channel they went down the list of what the NYT has written on this issue. It was pathetic. As far as putting blame, I say it is the state and local government who should hold the largest portion of blame. They had an evacuation plane and none of it was used. They were pathetic at best. Shoot, you saw the pictures of all those school busses in water.

I pretty much agree with the other two paragraphs, but I just quoted this one to keep my post a reasonable size.
My main problem with all of this is the impression I get from most, pretty much all, Republicans is that the government is not at fault at all. Then of course hearing things such as, 'Now is not the time for politics and finger pointing...' and then watching them pin this on Liberals exclusively.
I think plenty of people are using this for political reasons... that alone doesn't bother me, what really bothers me is when those same people pretend to be above it.

If I make a mistake I correct them.It's not about thinking you're a liar, because I don't think you are one, rather it's about having something that backs up your claim. It only makes it stronger because even if one isn't a liar, they can still recall something from somewhere that was innaccurate and then pass it on without knowing better.
Plus, I'm not a very trusting guy in the first place. :D

Yeah yeah blah blah all Bush's fault. What the moronic liberals don't understand is that Bush can't ride on in on a water pump without the governors permission. She decided to play politics as usual and the result is thousands died.
The Mayor and Governor of LA share most of the blame for the complete lack of assisted evac and delay on rescue. Why didn't the mayor order evacuations via schoolbuses? It isn't Bush's responsibility to make sure LA is prepared for disaster.

the fact is its true. The federal government democrat and republican alike have been dodging fixing the coastal levee systems across the whole country for 40 odd years. Hell it was during the clinton admin when LA lost its barrier islands forever. Clinton did alot of stuff right at the end of his 2nd term, yes. He signed a ton of things that he knew the congress would undo after he was gone. At the end of his 2nd term was when he actually increased funding for the levee's. Because he knew the next budget that would get cut. This happens with most second term presidents throughout our history.

The state of LA should have been fixing their own problems. Why does the fed have to do this?
WRT to funing levees in the 90s it was republican congress' that passed the bills which Clinton did the right thing and passes but to say it was Clinton is kinda silly.

Hey I am only talking about presidents here. I already said that it's the congress who undid it. Clinton signed the deal is all. The only reason he signed it was because he was going out the door. Previously he made them cut it off as 'pork'. Regardless the reason the fed needs to fund the levee issues, is because the cost alone to do it right is insane. As we will all see in the coming months. Now california is a state that can handle the costs of repairing its own systems but won't because the cost is again insane.
