Here's what's new in Firefox 1.5 Beta 1:

Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent, and updates to Firefox may now be half a megabyte or smaller. Updating extensions has also improved.
Faster browser navigation with improvements to back and forward button performance.
Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
Improvements to popup blocking.
Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.
Answers.com replaces Dictionary.com for dictionary lookup.
Improvements to product usability including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, RSS discovery, and "Safe Mode" experience.
Better accessibility support including DHTML accessibility.
Report a broken Web site wizard to report Web sites that are not working in Firefox.
Better support for Mac OS X (10.2 and greater) including profile migration from Safari and Mac Internet Explorer.
New support for Web Standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3, and JavaScript 1.6.
Many security enhancements.

My friend got it earlier today and he said he noticed no differences... is there a changes list anywhere?

The one that came out earlier today was an RC. This is the actual beta.

Wow, I want to uninstall this already. None of my plug-ins work and now the lack of TabBrowser is effing everything up for me. GRR!

TabBrowser Preferences has been updated. I am happy again. :)

Now, I just need updates for the other plugins I have...

They ought to make it so that the back and forward responds to the button press rather than the button release, a la opera. Just feels so much more responsive that way.

That's a good idea. You could always check out bugzilla.mozilla.org or and post it as a feature request.

I just installed this here. AdBlock works still kinda. It won't list blockable items anymore, but I can still add them and it's blocking them, so that works for now until it's updated. Webmail Compose needs an update as well. Other than extensions, it seems to render a little smoother. I unblocked the pricegrabber script from the top of the page and it zips through it much better now. Tables used to be a weak point, but it looks like that's improving.

The PM page doesn't display correctly anymore in 1.5 Beta 1, at least for me it doesn't.

I installed logitech mouseware a few weeks ago and ever since then the back and forward buttons on my mouse have been "on press" rather than "on release" like they were. Not sure which I prefer, but I deffinitely notice the difference.

I had that problem too. I did a complete clean install of 1.5beta. and the problem went away...

Hmm...it's not that big of a deal, and I am pretty lazy, so I'll probably not bother. :)

Can't make the switch... too many important extensions would be messed up :(.

Wait a few week before you try to upgrade. Those important extensions will most likely be updated to support Firefox 1.5 beta.

here's a way to make extensions work. it forces the extensions to work with a firefox version it's not compatible with so as with anything that involves tweaking beyond spec like oc'ing you do this at your own risk. i had no problems enabling the 10 or so extensions i have installed. http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=3436

edit: well google toolbar is acting funny. all of the options are enabled and none of my custom options will work.
