Athlon64 X2 4400
Gigabyte K8N SLI mobo
Two BFG 7800GT's
2GB of RAM
200GB HD
Audigy 7.1 card

All of that will soon occupy the inside of my koolance case, and no more will Apple hardware power my main desktop. However, Tiger still will :D

I'd really love to SLI but I can't pass up the performance of the GTX. I'll buy another one probably after Christmas, right along with a new LCD  . Gratz on the new rig oldskool. :D

hey, as much as I like watching my G5's get spanked by my old opteron 246's, and after ahh, stumbling across osx86 in a duffel bag in a field...a dual boot solution will go quite nicely

I think I'll convert my old G5 into a swamp cooler or something.

Yeah, as much as I love Apple, I'm going to have to build another PC for college stuff . . . I guess I need to keep updated with the wonderful world of M$ and Windows. Looks like a new gaming rig will come my way within the next 6 months or so!

See, mac fans are like liberals. Eventually they grow out of it, though sometimes they don't :D

Ehhh, I was planning on buy an iMac but then I got to look at my future courses in college. Most of them are programming and Windows stuff but I don't have a PC anymore (just my iBook, which I still LOVE). I gotta get one now . . .

BTW, since I haven't been keeping on top of the PC world within the past 6 months, I have a ton of questions for you guys . . . but I'ma start my own thread with my plans for my PC. Look around for it soon.

Actually, I got the stuff in already.

Piccies when I get the case and stuff ready, for now it's just been kind of exposed.

I've never seen OSX running so fast though.....this will be the best Mac I've ever built :D

For kicks I fired up Doom3 in XP, and man....I just gotta love 1600x1200 and getting around 150 fps in that. Far Cry also like....transformed into a much better looking game too.

Oh and ahh, GAMING, on that 30" display.......at least Apple was good for something :D :D :D :D :jumping:

In just a bit of testing, using my dvd rip'd image of LOTR:FOTR, I was able to use the OSX86 Quicktime 7 to re-encode that into an h.264 .mov w/aac

I compared it to my Dual G5's...and the X2 4400 just wipes the floor with the poor G5's. On average it was encoding at about 30-35 fps (faster than playback) the best that the G5's could muster was about 16-20 fps.

Hmm...you know how else mac fans are similar to liberals? They always complain about being the underrepresented minority :D

(heh sorry, I just had to throw that one out there)

Hmm...on that note, wasn't OSX supposed to be 64-bit? Did they rewrite it to be 32-bit or something? Or was it never truely 64-bit to begin with?
