Hi folks,
Just upgraded my PC, and was wondering.
Ventured into socket 939 atlast, and was wondering what would give better performance ...(mainly for gaming!)
2 x 512MB DDR in dual channel or 3 x 512MB in single channel mode.
Cheers,

For games that require a large amount of memory (like BF2 & FEAR) the 1.5gb will give stuttering-free or less stuttering experiance.
for games that require higher memory performance/bandwidth & cpu usage (like HL2) the 1gb dual channel will provide slightly higher framerate.

Having bought a 7800, it seems the 1.5GB will probably be the better option then.
The only trouble is , the additional 512MB is a different kind, even if it is the same brand, experimentation needed, anybody having experimented in this way already just so I got a heads up sorta thing?

Yep i'm using 1.5 aswell & that extra 512 is different brand (the 1GB is Corsair Xpert , the 512Mb is OCZ).
i prefered that setup over the dual channel 1GB .. it simply sucked @FEAR & BF2.
IMO stutter-free experiance > slightly higher framerate
