View Full Version : x1800xl Performance!
http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2679&s=1
We got hold of some performance figures of the Radeon X1800 XL and using the beta Catalyst 8.172 drivers, it outperforms the Radeon X850 XT PE slightly. For 3DMark05, you are probably looking at a close 7K. However, the beta drivers still aren't looking too good at the moment and ATi is working hard to get their drivers ready and optimized for the launch.

Might wanna change thread title...
Wow, talk about an improvement. The X1800XL is clocked at 500/500 vs. the X850XTPE's 540/590, but manages to beat it by 600-1000 points! That new memory controller is showing off its benefits. The 2 extra vertex units also help. Still, its much more efficient per **** than the R520 was.

And dude that typo is kinda funny. :D
Hmmm... take a X850XT shrink the die and add SM3 and FP32 = X1800XL??? :thumbdwn: Lets see what happens to the performance of this new core once some decent drivers show up.
Heh, love the avatar enu291. :)

Thats not the full avatar though ;)

Yeah, its a typo. The 4th hour bell was ringing as I was typing that so I was in a bit of a hurry.

Right... I just listed the improvements in my previous post. Based on that score, the card is clocked lower and performs better than the X850XT PE. I was scoring 6400 in 3DMark05 with an X800XT overclocked to X850XT PE speeds.
X1800XL:
500mhz core
1000mhz memory
7000 3DMark05
X850XT PE:
540mhz core
1180mhz memory
6400 3DMark05
Thats not the full avatar though ;)
Where's the full one?

It is kinda cool. I jacked that gif from some web site. I forgot the name. :( If I run into any other funny ones I'll PM you.

Everyone should use the full one, especially future X1800XL users!

Too messy for the full one.

Intersting, looks like the preformance is slightly better clock for clock than r420!
Need to see how much the speed can scale!

Wow, it was much longer. :) Thanks for the link.
From what we can tell the core clock of the X1800XL is 550MHz with 1250MHz memory. But we will see when they come out.
