I would take anything with a grain of salt atm, but if ATI wants to sell this at $599 with this kind of performance and very low availability, they surely need to think again. :D :p

Looks like I'll stay withmy original plan and get the evga oc edition 7800 gtx around the holidays!

Man, that is seriously disappointing. I mean almost every benchmark is slower then the 7800GTX, sure it can probably be OC'd to match/beat an OC'd 7800GTX but stock is what I look at really.

Next month im going SLi anyway! ^^

Wow...yeah, that's pretty disappointing. And considering that they're using 7800GTX's at reference clocks (when barely any are sold at that speed) it seems like there's not a lot more to say about it...

This is going to be very bad for ATi if those benchmarks are accurate.

The GTX was clocked at 430, right? I kinda doubt that the R520 can OC much better than the GTX (considering what stock cooler it has to use), or at least so much that it can beat the GTX "the way it was meant to be". ;) It should be a very interesting card (XT 512MB) if the price will drop "FAST" to the level of the GTX with 256MB. For some reason I donīt see that happening, but if it does, I might buy one. :)

wow, i am shocked by the scores. poor ati.

This is going to be very bad for ATi if those benchmarks are accurate. i think this is going to altamatly be bad for all of us becouse competion is starting to fall off ... now nvidia doesnt have any presure to drop prices.... they have the fastest card going... but if they had some compatiton they would feel compeled to do so....

I guess in a way it doesn't make a lot of sense to expect the R520 to be much faster than the 7800GTX. They were supposed to be of the same "generation" but we all know how that went for ATI as far as getting it out the door.

After a few driver tweaks maybe they can get it to equal the GTX performance-wise. But even if they do the GTX has been out for months already and has dropped in price significantly. I can't see them selling the XT for a competitive price vs. the GTX.

If this really is the truth of the situation then they are going to tank. It won't sell well at all.

so i take it that is why they are rushing the r580 out so fast...

Who in there right mind would spend an extra $100-$150 for an ATI X1800XT at this point? It's offical... The X1800XT is ATIs Geforce 5800. If they rebound as well as Nvidia did we'll be seeing some nice products from them soon.

So the guy says he hasn't got the cards but an ATI AIB has supplied the numbers.
No pics,no card,no setup,no driver version.Should we just take his word for it?:bleh:

I dunno if it's really their 5800... At least this thing matches or comes close to the performance of the competing part. The 5800 was beat solidly by the 9700 in most situations, it's a bit more even this time around.

Fotis makes a good point in that these numbers are somewhat suspect. Time will tell if it's the truth or not but if it is this is definitely not exciting at all.

The 7800gtx and 7800gt were at standard clocks during the test?

Yep. Good stuff huh. And I know ATi said the X1800XT wouldn't be available at retail for at least a month after the launch.

If these numbers are true then ATi failed but come to think of it vr-zone showed us real board pics and setup but their specs(24pipes,650clock) were completely bogus. :inform:

Someone who doesn't want a next gen card with only 256mb of memory.

Of course we should. Everyone knows that everything posted on the internet is true. ;) If they had a board to test and didn't care about breaking the NDA, why didn't they at least post pics? Or maybe talk about the new features of the card.

ATI hasn't said anything about it. Now the inquirer, VR-Zone, and random people on forums have if you want to believe them.

Its blocked by my school's firewall so I can't view it till I get home. I just don't understand why people are so quick to believe this when the person doesn't have any proof to back it up.

Shouldn't you wait to read the article before commenting on it and dismissing it? ;)

I dunno, I'm more apt to believe that they will have limited quantities due to the X800 and X850 lines. That and from what we've heard (again, from the sites you mentioned, but still) about yield problems and getting core clocks up so high.

We'll see I guess, but I'm not holding my breath for ATi to have nVIDIA-like quantities available at launch.

The X1800 is not a next-gen card. It's a current-gen card. And 512mb of memory has been shown thus far to be a waste. Maybe next year or the year after it'll be worth it.

Of course we should. Everyone knows that everything posted on the internet is true. ;) If they had a board to test and didn't care about breaking the NDA, why didn't they at least post pics? Or maybe talk about the new features of the card.
They did NOT have a board to test. They had to ask another site who IS under NDA to run some tests for them and report the results to them (if I read it correctly). So basically the results they reported are not their own, they are from someone else.

ATI hasn't said anything about it. Now the inquirer, VR-Zone, and random people on forums have if you want to believe them.
Actually that particular bit came from Tom's Hardware and yes, I will believe them.

I have a feeling even when the NDA is up and the same benchmarks come out you're still going to be crying "No, it's not true! It's all made up!" ;)

Well crap it looks like that post over at rage3d might have missed the boat. It was talking about "samples to the press" and we're talking about board partners here. So it's possible they may still be the real thing.

Actually im going to have to say take gibbos word witch a pinch of salt, because many sites are reporting they have the XT's...such as anandtech witch has quite a rep for only saying 'real' info or not trying to make it up (ala the inq).

However, on a second note, when the nda is lifted and other benches come out, if they arent in line with hardware Analysis's, they will lose quite some credability if not all of it. So we can wait and see i guess.
