Nvidia will launch the third card in G70 line called 7800 Standard just after R520 launch on 5th October, it will have 16 pipelines, 6vs, clock at 375MHz core and 1000MHz memory, it will priced at between $199 and $299 depend if Nvidia will decide to have some price cuts after R520 launch.
Also it reveal the yield level of G71 - 7800 Ultra with 32 pipelines, it reported with more than 50% of yield on 90nm, that very good, about big enough to produce 10,000 to 15,000 chips, it way very high than ATI worst yield of 2 to 3% on 24 and 32 pipelines R520.

Yes G71 is 7800 Ultra, we all knew (http://www.gdhardware.com/events/idf/fall_2005/003.htm) that few months ago.
NVIDIA has a 32-pipe solution it's waiting to pull the trigger on the day after ATI's announcement.
I'm starting to doubt a "7800Ultra" or any refresh to come soon esp with those new benchmarks showing the GTX beating the X1800XT lately.
I thought it was confirmed that there is no ultra version?

Yeah but it could not beat a 650MHz 24 pipeline X1800XT sampled by HKEPC, that card could release in December after 16 pipelines X1800 XT cards in stocks in November. It seem Nvidia had changed their mind to launch 7800 Ultra later this year before ATI release 24 pipeline X1800 XT rather than compete with 32 pipelines R580 next year so Nvidia probably will put up next generation G80 to compete with R580. the plans are change all the times. :p

It was. nVidia has said many times that GTX is the new Ultra.

Yeah it was but until Nvidia heard that ATI could release a 24 pipeline X1800 XT later this year, the plan was changed since end of August when they expected ATI to launched X1800 XT but they didnt, the date kept push back to Sept and finally 5th October.

Yup. And I'm going to believe them over anyone else.

And if its called 7900GTX and not 7800Ultra, doesn´t matter at all, what matters is that there are good yields with their first .90nm chip. I´m personally not 100% sure if its really a 32pipe version and not a low end version (7200, 7600) since people were guessing that NV would first go that route to avoid possible .90nm problems.
Of course it would make sense that the 32 pipe card will run against the 32 pipe 580. However since the 16pipe R520 will be most likely very compeditive to stock-clocked 7800GTX, I think a 32pipe .90nm G71 will need also low-k tech to reach similar clocks like the R580. Thats just a speculation, who knows, maybe NV will be able to improve their pipelines/architecture even further that they won´t need similar clocks as their ATI compeditor.
Another interesting fight should be the feature sets, since the R520 is suppose to have some features that the G70 doesn´t have. Will the G71 be able to cover this disadvantage or even have something extra that their compeditor doesn´t have?
Should be an intersting Q4 and Q1 ´06 regarding NV and ATI.

:thinker: This is the ub3r s3krrrit Vltra uersion. :screwy:
The NVIDIA GeForce 7900 USVU!
I do throw down the gauntlet though: I challenge and Power of 3 Dog Dare NVIDIA to release a 32 pipe card before January!!!!
http://theinquirer.net/?article=26220 maybe the ultra has more to do with this then anything else...

well but couldn't G71 be just a 0,09 G70 for save costs and sell a 7800gtx with 512mb at same price as todays 7800gtx?

The way I read it, the G71 = the standard 7800 and not the 7800U 32pp.

Same here. It's clearly talking about the 7800, ie the G71.

And those features are?
I just can remeber 512-bit memory controler right now.
When do you stop believing that there is a 24/32 pipeline R520? There never was one and will never be one. Both R520 and R580 are 4 quad cards....
There is no Ultra, there wont be an ultra...when will some of you stop beating a dead horse? =P

Yes, those features are??? i dont knw of anything else besides H.264 decoding..?

well, all i can say is, all the sites had mentioned the G70 would be a 24piped card, and it came out to be true.
Those sites also said the Ati r520 would be a 32pipe card (though it never made it off the fabs).
Now those sites say the card is a 24 or 16pipe card.
I feel this too will be true.

I don't understand why MS DOESN'T just call it 9.1. Or now, 9.2 or 9.3...why the letters?
i dont understand?
i thought M$ was coming u with Dx10 with Vista. Dont temme Dx10 is ths 9.0L?

The G71 is the standard card after all the NV44 is the 6600 cards while the NV40 is the 6800 GT/Ultra, and NV41 is the 6800

No, it's going to be WGF1.0 with Vista. Windows Graphics Foundation or something like that.
This, for all intents and purposes, could be called DirectX10...well, not this update per se, but with the combined 9.0a, 9.0b, 9.0c and now 9.0L, this should be like DirectX 10.2.
The G71 is the standard card after all the NV44 is the 6600 cards while the NV40 is the 6800 GT/Ultra, and NV41 is the 6800
Wrong!
The NV44 is the 6200TC, not the 6600...
;)
