It does, but the bottleneck is the memory controller on the boards, so it doesnt really get much of a speedup due to that.. memory bandwidth doesnt double with 2 cards..
Crossfire wont change that, but the R520 might have more memory bandwidth to scale with (it prolly does, but I havent "checked" with the rumoured speeds, so..)

well ofcource SFR should help, since each card is rendering half the screen realestate..
