I am currently looking for a CPU to buy for my new computer. I'm pretty set on getting an AMD Athlon 64 3500+. I was looking around on Newegg and found two.

Amd Athlon 64 3500+ Clawhammer (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103514)

Amd Athlon 64 3500+ Venice (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533)

Other then the price I want to know what the difference between the Clawhammer and the Venice. Which one would you recomend? Any answers would be helpful.

Thank you.

The Venice core of course (90nm) !!
it runs cooler , consume less power & much better for overclocking. (thats plus the SSE3 support)

The Venice has the improved memory controller and is more efficient. It runs on the 90 nanometer core which runs at a lower voltage compared to the Clawhammer which runs on the 130 nanometer core. Less voltage means less heat. Other than that, they are the same.

Another vote for Venice core for the reasons stated above

yes definitely go with the venice. however, you dont plan on running that in the a7n8x right? cause that simply wont work, hehe.

EDIT: just read the word NEW computer, so im assuming youre getting a new motherboard, but you can never be too careful ;)

It simply won't fit! I just got that new EVGA Nforce 4 SLI motherboard with my new EVGA 7800GT from Newegg.

Just because I was asking a noob question doesn't mean I'm a noob. I know how to build computers.

This is everything I've already got and what I'm getting:

MOBO (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188002)

CPU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103533)

Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130238)

Ram (2X) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144321)

DVD Burner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106988)

I've already got a 160GB SATA harddrive, a case, and a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. Everything should work together.

nice machine man, that thing will fly. let me know how that eVGA mobo is.

i see it has 3 x16 slots, let us know if you can hack an SLI rig out of that. i heard you can with the DFI nf4 ultra boards. ;)
