Is this card for real? It's pretty weird seeing 4 connections on one card. If this is posted elsewhere already, someone please lock or delete this thread.

The ASUS 7800GT-DUAL card is pretty interesting as it seems. It has a single 6-pin molex connector to power two GPUs but it requires an external power source using an AC adapter. This card has two DVI-out and two VGA connectors. Not forgetting, it is a huge card so not all casings can fit this in.

Its about time they started using external power. Remember the Voodoo 5 6000 used external power also.

you know whats amazing to me? seeing little bits of technology here and there recently from nvidia that shows 3dfx roots in it. i knew when they bought out 3dfx, they got their technolgy too, and now we are starting to see some of it. i love it:)

Is it just me that thinks this card is just plain wrong and ugly? And in 6 months will be outdated and outpaced from both NV and ATI new tech?

if its released soon enough, then it may find customers, if its released sometime around nex yr, then yeah, it will find the history book.

Yeah, they need to hurry if they want it to sell. Wasn't it ASUS that ended up scraping the last attempt at this (with the 6800s) b/c the 7800s came out before they had the 6800 version ready?

if they can get two of these cards working in a system then i think they would have a winner...

You´re labeling "External Power" as 3dFX technology?

Im sure I´ve seen other devices drawing "energy" over a cord "like" device, instead of the traditional integrated selfsufficient fusion reactor... hehe but I get your point..

I acctually think I would prefer external power then having to buy a new high performance PSU then and then to cope with new graphics cards.
But arent there issues with "out of phase" power and stuff when your drawing power from different sources?

Hmm actually i dont like the idea of external power .. if they just add another molex connector just like the 6800U it will be easier for the end-user i think.

ITS HUUUGGGEEEE
IMO, the cooler alone would cost $450, so i'd rather buy a 7800GTX :lol2:
