I currently own a winny 3200+ and would like to add another gig of ram to my system. I've read that using all four ram slots results in the ram speed defaulting to 333. My question is: Is the ram hardlocked at 333? If I overclock my 3200+ to, say, 2.4ghz, will the ram match speed and run at 400?

I believe with the Winchester you can still use 400MHz memory however you MUST use T2 memory timings.

NO i was wrong yes you have to run at T2 & 333MHz it's Vinice that resolves that problem.

Well, my Newcastle 3500+ was able to run DDR400 at 2-3-2-5 T2 I just had to set it to DDR400 in the Bios. When I overclocked I had the ram running at DDR460 (at T2 aswell). Filling all four banks requires you to run at T2 regardless, I don't think there is a AMD CPU that can run 4 banks filled at T1.

You don't have to run at 333MHz. I used to run my memory at both 400MHz and 500MHz speeds. You will go down to 2T timings though. There is no avoiding that.

Awesome. Thanks guys. I wasn't quite sure on how that worked totally. I doubt I'd see much of a performance decrease by running 2T.
