View Full Version : firefox 1.07 is out
like the thread title says 1.07 is out and about..
* Fix for a potential buffer overflow vulnerability when loading a hostname with all soft-hyphens
* Fix to prevent URLs passed from external programs from being parsed by the shell (Linux only)
* Fix to prevent a crash when loading a Proxy Auto-Config (PAC) script that uses an "eval" statement
* Fix to restore InstallTrigger.getVersion() for Extension authors
im installing it now
wow i didnt get the hang up with the price grabber when i came to nvnews...
Still heavy system burden, still has problems with flash heavy sites (like gamespot.com and others)
well isnt that then a problem with flash and not the browser itself.
edit...after using this all night it feals much faster... the nvnews pricegrabber bug seems to be fixed....im sticking with this version

Yeah I upgraded to the new version and it feels alot faster. All my pages have been loading nice and quick now.

No, because IE and Opera both do not have the same issue on the same pages so that would fall to the browser.
You guys should just use the 1.5 beta. It's much better imo. I've actually switched to Opera for now.

I got this and the flash player plugin STILL doesn't work. I uninstalled 1.5 Beta 1, installed this (numerous times) and it still won't load Flash stuff. BOO!

Wow, even after a fresh install of Windows, the Flash player plugin STILL doesn't work with 1.07. Fantastic.

I have 1.07, and now I get some funky new crap that I dont want! Like in this thread, words stand out in green, and if you hold the cursor over it, it displays crap like where to get what, and now if I goto Distrowatch.com, I dont get the up & down arrows on which distro is more popular. It used to not do this new stuff, how do I get rid of it?

I know the cause of that. You use adblocker correct?
go to tools > adblock > preferences
click the adblock options text, uncheck obj-tabs. This option triggers a security feature in the new flashplayer 8 which makes flash objects not show up.
Also, don't install flashblock - the newer experimental (1.5b compatible) builds seem to break flash completely.
After that, flash should work fine.

Especially if you're using XP-64. Flash only works in Opera and the 32-bit version of IE. Macromedia allegedly is aware of this shortcoming and is working to address it.
For now, Opera 8.50 has been running much nicer for me in XP-64 than it ever did in XP-32. :o

That is part of the nvnews forums themselves. Use adblock to get rid of it (just add a filter for *intellitxt.com)

Spectacular! Thanks man! :D
or switch to Opera for some reason they don't show up in it by default.
