nVidia's website now has a directory for 78.05.
So you guys keep an eye over here : ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/78.05/

Also a directory for 77.79 for Win XP MCE has appeared (yesterday), so also keep an eye over here : ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/mce/77.79/

Cool, but does that mean it's just a fixed up 78.01/.03 set? Come on with the 8x.xx!

So far I'm very unimpressed with the 8x.xx series. But maybe that is just because I own a older card. 78.05 should be a much more solid set of drivers.

I hope they fix the final application profiles bugs. I would like a keeper 7x.xx set before 80.xx comes out, which will probably suck for FX series.

Wonder why they always do this creating directory teasing thing... :P

Well the 8x.xx drivers that have been released arent even beta, they are alpha - sooooo at this point no one would really be impressed with drivers that we aren't supposed to be using. And yes, having an older card that has already been pushed past what was expected...you aren't going to see many more jumps in performance with drivers.

I'm not looking for jumps in performance. I'm looking for features, especially being able to force Vsync in OpenGL. There was a section on the front page not so long ago about new features the 8x.xx series were supposed to have. So far none of them even exist.

Because you can't just look at the build number with NVs betas. There are no 8x.xx drivers that even HAVE those new features yet, all the 8x.xx betas are friggin' old, way older than 78.03 even. Just because the build # is higher they are way to old to have the features mentioned on the front of the site.

So you can obviously see why I said 78.05 would be a much more solid build.

is there a timeframe for the release?

Me too. I know that I'm not going to get any more performance out of this old card (triple buffering in OGL helped though). I just want a stable WHQL driver without stupid application profiles bugs.

What the heck I want new x64 drivers seems so hard again, I't was going so good, LOL

Im hoping that news drivers can push the performance on the 7800 gen. cards a bit more. :)

that would be more likely with the 80 release.

The 80 series release is what I am looking forward to.Anyone have any idea of when we may see an Nvidia release of those ?

Don't think anybody is sure of that yet, maybe to coincide with the ATI next gen card release, but the signs are there that this will be the driver to really raise eyebrows. Regardless of the problems the alpha's have posed, the feel and performance of them in most cases is exceptional.

I really look forward to them, also waiting for the guys at XG to find 7800 specific tweaks, can't be far off.

80.xx will feature multi-threading for duallies, if this is the case, ATi will just get a nice slap of whoop ass with their R520 launch.

Since the 80.xx is still in alpha stage, don't expect any release before christmas. It takes a loooong time to make stable drivers. My 2 cent.

Playing with 82.10 atm, don't need to reboot to enable/disable SLI (sometimes)
