Monitor Questions

This may not be the right place to post on this however here goes. I have a Viewsonic Monitor with a max Horizontal Refresh rate of 85 Hz.. I am looking to upgrade the monitor to a 19" however in looking I have a few questions.. What is most important, Refresh Rate at what will be my standard resolution Say 1280X1024 @ 105Hz OR is the 200MHz bandwidth more important? Im a gamer and want my computer tweaked for gaming. I have a GF4 TI4400 and it seems that the monitor takes a big hit in performance when there are loads of people or lots of action in screen.. SHould I look for most bandwidth or highest Refresh rate OR BOTH? Any comments would be appreciated.

Let's get things straight: Your monitor is no what related to the FPSs you are getting (in that case)... So if you upgrade your monitor, it won't make things go smoother.

But if you want to make things go smoother, you must upgrade your video card not the monitor.

When v-sync is enabled the game highest fps will be the same as your monitors refresh rate. So having a faster refresh rate is better, besides its better on your eyes to have a 100hz refresh rate than 60hz.

Many 19" monitors support 72~100hz refresh rates at 1280x1024 so you should have no trouble finding one that suits your needs and your pocket.

One damn fine monitor, my Iiyama VMP 450 Pro is a bit old now, still 1600*1200@85Hz Iiyama are famous for making fantastic monitors.

As to the question, refresh is the important thing, higher the refresh the better. For any good monitor 1280*1024@100Hz is the standard.
