I doubt his full load is really 48C. You can't just quit a game check it in the cp. Temps drop really quick.

Yes I had faulty BFG 6800 GT, it used to be HOT at 55c idle and 65c to 85c at full load, I dont like BFG's heatpipe cooler, it too hot. With 7800 GTX Gainward cooler, I was surprised it ran much cooler at high temp than crap BFG heatpipe cooler.

Yeah I know the temp drop quick so I give you another temp reading this time during playing Call of Duty 2 demo and running Paint Shop Pro X, I alt-tab to desktop to get temp reading and screen capture at the same time, it was 57 to 61c. When at idle it was 43c.

Do you have RivaTuner installed? I use it to monitor my temps in the background and log to a file while playing games. You can easily find out the max/min temp during say, an hour long gaming session.

Also, try download and run this app in a window while keep your nvidia cp open. It will stress your card will make your temps climb:

Thank for that, I will install RivaTuner now and start up playing HL2DM for an hour and report back the results. :)

I have the results here, it seem my overclocked 7800 GTX at 500/1300 did not stress much in games, it stayed at no higher than 65c all the times in HL2DM, Call of Duty 2 demo and Age of Empire 3 demo. Then I tried out rthdribl v1.2 and running the program for 15 mins, it saw the GPU temp rise steady to 80c and it stayed at that temp for the whole 10 mins, it never gone higher than 80c.

I'm not entirely sure where I got it, but I think it's from deviantart.com...trying going on there and searching for Quake 4.

I am also interested in that utility you are using to show your mobo temp, what is it and where can I get it? :)
