As X1800 launch is just days away, ATI wanted to keep the fans wait and wait so long for months and told that they are very confident that the whole X1800 cards will outperform the 7800 cards but ATI will give nothing they been empty promised for months. HKEPC decided to exposed X1800 XL card and proved it running 3DMark05 and the result are not that much faster, it actual slower than 7800 GT.
X1800 XL core clock is 500MHz, X1800 Pro will have 550MHz, it will score around 7200 3DMark05 and X1800 XT probably will clock around between 600MHz and 625MHz, it could score around between 7400 and 7600 3DMark05.
I think ATI probably will have the worst Xmas sales of this year, if they dont make money from Xmas sales then on a few months next year, ATI could gone down into same path as Commodore did after very dismay Xmas 1993 Commodore peripheral sales.

Ah I see, well VR-Zone only showed one X1800XL benchmark number but it didnt showed the card running.

Ok. :)
Things that I don't like on that article:
1)Blured gpu name for the X1800XL score.
2)Correct me if I'm wrong but its seems that the X1800XL fan is not working during the test.
3)The site says we are to expect a 5-15% increase with release drivers.
4)The reference 7800GT(400/1000) scores around 6800 and HKEPC probably used a preoverclocked XFX7800GT(450/1050) they reviewed a few days ago.
Bottom line is I don't trust neither vr-zone or HKEpc cause they've been spreading a lot of fud lately.

That also struck me as a weird thing to do (especially as faking the screenies is so trivial anyway), why obfuscate the one piece of info people *expect* to see?
2)Correct me if I'm wrong but its seems that the X1800XL fan is not working during the test. fast shutter speeds will make it seem like the fan has stoped...
3)The site says we are to expect a 5-15% increase with release drivers. but isnt that the truth? ... all new card will gain about 20% in speed over time... i dont get what your problem is here...

its a prerelease board most likely and it wouldn't state the name but the actual code name
How can I take this seriously when they're using a pink power supply. :)

well 200 odd points isn't too bad. it could be worse. could be r300 vs nv30 worse.

I doubt the little digital cam they used to take those pics has anywhere near the speed to make a 5400rpm fan that small look like its stopped.

I can do it with my Fujifilm FinePix F810
Yea my cheapy Canon that costs me 100 bucks makes all fans seem to stop.

I got the same thing with my girlfriend's digital camera (cheapo) and my case fans, CPU fans, Graphics card fan. Seems normal to me.
Wow 200pts lost it's a utter failer it must be a huge diffrence to go from 21.3fps to 22fps. That 0.7 fps must be like day and night

An Nvidia card besting an ATI card in 3DM05 is like an ATI card besting a Nvidia card in Doom3. It's an uphill battle and it's just sad and downright wrong when it happens.

Really? Haven't bought a camera in a while, must have improved shutter speed or some such, I know my digital cam won't do it.
