16x SLI doesn't do much it seems... actually... its SLOWER in most cases!!! :thumbdwn:

is this a surprise to anyone? we hardly need 8x pci-e, not to mention 16x. chalk it up to immature bios, drivers, and perhaps increased latency from the increase in pci-e lanes

The review says that this is the only board with SLI X16, but I could've sworn Mike said in his review of the MSI board with dual 7800GTXs that that mobo had full X16 SLI.

all current sli boards go in to 2x8 mode when you switch on sli mode. it's just that the slots themselves are capable of holding a x16 device, rather than each having a full x16 number of lanes. if you use another device in the 2nd x16 slot, it'll run in x1 mode. I think MikeC is confusing SLIx16 with PCI-E x16 slots.

edit: what was I thinking. took out some things that didn't make sense.
