vedy nice, might finally give 2.0 a try without worrying about going back

09-27-05, 09:02 PM
got it working, but damn, these snes roms run slooooooow. I remember asking if super punch-out ran fine, but it doesnt...its slow. Whats the best snes emu to use? ( And for legal reasons let me state I still actually own an snes and the above mentioned game along with many others)

I'll wait until the 2.0 is cracked for homerew...it's close to being finished

holy CRAP do these roms run like TOTAL ASS

Snes9x sucks the major balls at least

trying TYL....

09-27-05, 11:01 PM
TYL kicks major ass

just increase the clock speed to 333MHz, and it's totally fluid

tried out super metroid, super mario world, and then on Gensis I tried out ecco

Kicks ass.

The NES and SNES emus run 100% if you put them to 333 MHZ. :D

So it works well? No troubles thus far?

How long does your battery last while overclocked?

Honestly I can't tell a difference, at full clock...333MHz on the PSP is not OC'ing...., but anyhow for emulating the SNES at that clock speed I'm not seeing a difference.

At home last night I played for a halfhour, and then on the way in it's an hour ride I'm only down to about %75 so far on battery life.

I'm sure if a regular 3d game were to run at full clock it'd drain like a mofo, but I'm thinking you hit the limit at around 266 and it's borderline, and at 333 it's not using all the CPU cycles.

I also tried a GBA emulator, and it ran pretty damn good. Tried Metroid Fusion on it and it's a bit choppy in some parts but overall pretty nice.

btw, funny story

So I'm in the processing of installing the 1.50 firmware. La de dah, and then at %99 it tells me the update failed, and to contact Sony customer support, and then (ffffff)

It was hardlocked too. I'm thinking to myself "****, NOOOOOOOOO, my PSP is now DEAD". Longest 5 seconds of my life, when I pulled the battery out the back, and unplugged the A/C adapter...plugged the battery back in and powered up.......everything was fine, not a hitch not a problem.

So if it makes it to %99 and you get that, don't **** your pants, you're still in biz :D

It worked!!! I've been waiting for this for a long time and it will hold me off until they can do their magic with FW2.0.
Thanks a ton for the link...i love you!! :D

Something tells me this downgrader will only work until a new firmware kills it.

2.0.1 - New features - can now display picture filename, minor security fixes

When really, 1 line of code was added for new features, and about 80 were added to fix the buffer exploit.

Yup... got it to work... I thought I bricked it about a million times because I apparently wasn't following the instructions 100% right... but finally got it to work... good to be back playing Mike Tyson's Punchout again... also playing Mega Man X and Rocky Rodent (don't deny Rocky Rodent... that game is awesome).

ok, I took it to work and back, played some super punch-out and street fighter 2 turbo. I figured it out to put the clock to 333mhz. Some games still cant run too good though, like mortal kombat 3 and tecmo super bowl 3. But super punch-out, ss2 turbo, death of superman and tecmo football 1 all worked flawless when put on 333mhz. I officially love my psp.

Think i'll install quake and doom tonight and see how those run.

2.0 is mostly cracked already, what is the real point?

09-28-05, 09:21 PM
Because when you buy a porno, you wanna pound the meat NOW, not LATER...dammit.

Battery life has very little to do with clock speed. Thats just a BS excuse Sony made for reducing the clock. The real reason was stability on the first batches of PSPs.

The things that eat battery life are - Wifi, Seeking on the UMD, and the level of the backlight
