View Full Version : ATI R580 is in house and working!
I thought Vista was coming late 2006 (http://software.silicon.com/os/0,39024651,39151834,00.htm)
Yeah Vista should be out Q4 2006 earliest!

I guess the R580 will clock at 520/1500 with probably 32 pipeline will finally meet the match G71 7900 Ultra (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.gzeasy.com%2Findex.ph p%3Fshowtopic%3D460397&langpair=zh-CN%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) clock at 525/1500 with 32 pipelines. :)
Nvidia probably will have G71 products (G70 refresh) in stocks by end of November since it been reported G71 at 90nm experienced a very good more than 50% yield few weeks ago.

Link (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2693&s=1)
We now knew what G71 yield are and we are wonder what the R580 yield are since R520 had very bad 3% yield.

Athlon, that is for the 7800 standard, not the Ultra. Where did you get 32 pipelines, when it clearly states in the link 16. Also, no mention .09 manufacturing. I think your smoking something good. Can you pass me some of that. You are to Nvidia what Hamidexa or Shaiderhaiden (on Rage3d) are to ATI. A lot of smoke up our arses.

Yep, the article has always been talking about the 7800NU=Standard=G71 -> Good yields.

No you misunderstand, you probably didnt read the other threads, 7800 Standard with 16 pipeline is still based on the same G70 core, not the refresh G71, the new G71 line (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.gzeasy.com%2Findex.ph p%3Fshowtopic%3D460397&langpair=zh-CN%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools) have 3 new products 7900 Ultra, 7900 GT and 7900 Standard.

Psh...all I know is I want to see some AGP parts. I'm not interested in upgrading my cpu/mobo this year.
Ditto. But R520 is probably it. If it's no better than the GTX then I'll probably just say screwit, wait a bit longer (say Nov/Dec), and upgrade my motherboard at the same time.

Athlon, that's a forum post. The VR article is only talking about the G71 which is the 7800 plain, non-Ultra, standard etc etc. Hence the title, "7800 Standard Info". It's all about the 7800NU, the article doesn't split in the middle to talk about an Ultra. The G71 info is about the 7800 standard, ie G71=7800NU. If there is such a thing as a 32-pipe 90nm chip, it's not mentioned in that article. Again, the yield info is STILL about the 90nm G71 7800NU.

However Nvidia confirmed that 7800 Standard is the third card of G70 products line, it nothing to do with G71.
GeForce 7800 Standard using the G70 core which makes it the third line-up for the 7800 series

I think they meant it will be based on the G70, the same way the 6600 was based on the NV40(technology and techniques etc etc). According to the VrZ article the 7800NU will be codenamed G71 and be based on a .09u process. There is no info about another card in there. That's ALL I'm saying. Anyway, that's how I see it. :)

Well VR-Zone originally thought G71 was a mainstream to replaced Geforce 6600 series but they just did their homework to get the guess right, posted the news and suddenly Nvidia caught them posted it and requested them to removed (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=2445) it, here the original news (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=654055&postcount=56) VR-Zone posted about G71 that Nvida removed it.
Now I guess that G71 turn out to be G70 refresh and you probably see why VR-Zone buried tiny G71 information in 7800 Standard news so that Nvidia didnt noticed it, if they did and will ask them to remove it. :)

the go 7800 gtx is a 90 nm chip with all the same features as its desktop part and performance levels just behind the desktop part due to being clocked a little lower. The 7800 was also based off the go 6800 ultra.
I have no reason to doubt Nvidia's ability to produce 90nm products.
The Nv30 was "working" and running (around august that year) since the Radeon9700 was available to be bought online .but was not available until 6-7months later. So there is nothing to look here...At best we will not see the R580 until the first few months of 2006.

7800GTX GO is made on 110nm.
The G71 has good yeilds due to it being less complicated and as a testing ground for .09nm. ATi have troubles this time round due all their products being based on .09nm
