Yes I posted this on [H], but I thought I would share it here too.

Well I wasn't real thrilled with the temps of my GTX, so I decided to give a VF700 a try and see how well it worked.

Here is the card before VF700

Back:

With the front cover off:

Back plate off, with some very crappy thermal pads on the RAM chips:

Front naked, with the same crap on the RAM:

Here is the craptacular stock heatsink!

Starting to come back together now, back with Zalman bracket attached:

And RAM sinks installed:

Front with RAM sinks, notice how beautiful and shiny the GPU core is, Arctic Cleaner is some very nice stuff for shinning up your cores, the picture is fuzzy but you can see the reflection of the camera very well in the GPU core ;)

And here is the badboy itself installed on the card, installation is very simple btw on these aftermarket coolers. Hats off to Zalman for making this as idiot proof as possible :p

And the card installed back into the computer, not sure if these coolers would work in SLI or not...I've read on forums they would work but man it would be a tight squeeze it seems to me.

And of course the last and final ricer pic, what can I say, Im a sucker for flashy things :o

Temp reports to come shortly :)

Now for the temp reporting..and I'm quite happy so far. Maybe the temps will change some as well when the Ceramique settles in..but Im not sure.

Stock Speeds (460/1250)

Stock Cooling
Idle: 52-55C
Load: 84-88C (Only one time I have ever seen it hit 88C, normally under full load it sits around 85-86C)

Zalman VF700
Idle: 45-48C
Load: 71C (I ran 3DMark05 roughly 6 or 7 times back to back..and the highest it got was 71..verified by MBM high/low log).

So yes, IMO the Zalman was well worth it. I'm currently 17C cooler than my maximum was on stock cooling...and I never stress tested my stock cooling to the point of looping 3DMark05.

And yes, next up I will be trying my hand at OC'ing this card this weekend..Im not expecting too much however, because the card didn't OC for crap on stock cooling and I don't think it was the temps holding it back.

Very nice!:D
What's your score in 3dmark'05?

Looking forward to know at how much the card can handle with the OC!!:D

Currently at 8,201 in 3DMark05 at the stock OC speeds of my XFX GTX (450/1250).

Letting my Ceramique settle in some before I try to OC it too far..but playing around with it some it looks like stable might be around 490/1320 so far.

That Zalman is nice, I selected PrimeCooler PC-VGAHG1, which is basically a copy of Zalman VF700-Cu I had on my 6800U, but it cools even better (1-2oC):

I am sure you probably got a nice drop in audible sound as well :)

I am sure you probably got a nice drop in audible sound as well :)

That is the main reason to do it :-) Better cooling comes as a side-benefit..
