First, let me clarify this before the doubters come out.

All the footage, from the video to the screenshots are 100% gameplay. I repeat, these are not cut scenes. These are not an artist's interpretation of gameplay. This is NBA 2K6.

Other then a few rough edges, this game is absolutely KICK ASS! And to think, this is what NFL2k6 COULD have looked like. GG EA.

Here is the entire article. Short, but oh so sweet.

NBA 2K6 360
First gameplay movie, screens, and info.
by Jon Robinson

September 30, 2005 - Sports nuts have been waiting for the day when the hardcore Lakers or Knicks fan will look at the TV and not be able to tell the difference between an NBA game and an NBA videogame.

We're one step closer to that dream thanks to NBA 2K6. A game that looks so good, it should immediately jump to the top of your list for reasons to buy the Xbox 360.

All the footage, from the video to the screenshots are 100% gameplay. I repeat, these are not cut scenes. These are not an artist's interpretation of gameplay. This is NBA 2K6.

A game that will carry over current-gen features like 24/7, The Crib, The Association, and VIP, adding to that some of the most impressive graphics we've seen to date.

Introducing an all-new graphics engine, the game captures animations down to a player's individual muscle system, depicting true human body movement and incredible details including enhanced sweat technology.

But it's not just the man that makes the mold, it's his clothes, or in this case, the cloth, as the game promises "True-Life" cloth simulation technology to deliver more realistic-looking shorts and jerseys. Add to that the emotion and passion of player faces that animate and natural head-and-eye tracking, and even Kobe Bryant is going to have a hard time figuring out the difference between the 2K6 Kobe and the "I refuse to pass the ball" Kobe who is staring back at him in the mirror (what can I say, Shaq is on the cover, so there has to be a Kobe dis somewhere in the text, right?).

But the players aren't the only ones brought to life as you're going to witness an electrifying crowd complete with 10,000 individual models dispersed throughout the arena. And what better way to capture the atmosphere than through authentic arena lighting arrays sampled from actual NBA venues and a bounce lighting technique called dynamic specularity. Look at the yellow light on Shaq's armpit in the screen below. The light's coming from the yellow court. Amazing.

All of this will be brought home with a new and dramatic broadcast style, including dynamic camera work, and a new camera perspective to bring you closer to the court than Spike Lee…without having to buy a season ticket.

Click on the video link at the bottom of the page to check out the first gameplay movie from NBA 2K6.

And again, this is 100% gameplay.

Can't fake the funk on this nasty dunk.

Theres alot more then a "few" rough edges. Not saying it looks bad but before reading the article I thought the models were pasted into the shots... it looks like really bad photoshop job on some of them.

Wow. Nice use of focus (foreground object in focus crisp/background out of focus blurry) and super detailed. Should be even more fantastic once X360's standard 4xAA is enabled.

Looks really good. The advantage here is everyone is on the same hardware so it will be exactly the same performance on all 360's. Cant say that for the pc can you.

I remember when I first saw the 2K series on the Dreamcast and I was floored. Very impressive at the time and made you think, who is EA again? We can only imagine what NFL2K might have been after seeing these shots.

pah - havent you heard of its realistic nike(tm) cloth physics yet.. ?

where have you been? :p

hehe check this out >>>> look at one of the pictures above > the one with the guy in blue (2nd picture from bottom) > the girl to his left is one of the, if not THE worst female model i have ever ever seen in a game since i dont know when :D

obviously i am joking, dont sweat it please.

the thing i dont like with the vids, though, is they need some more frames/sec. when it loses frames it makes the thing look unpolished. but that is the only crit i have.

Thanks for pointing that out... that made my day lol.... she looks like a paper cutout lol.

Anyway... the game LOOKS good... but I am sure it will play like crap like most other NBA games, which sucks :(. I trying NBA live 06 in EB the other day with a friend and that was the slowest moving, most boring game I have ever played... and it was ridiculous too... Shaq made a 3 pointer

Every iteration of NBA 2K has been more awesome than the last, and they always smoke EA's offering. Not sure why this would be any different, you should give it a shot.

Bah... the last NBA game I enjoyed was NBA Jam in the arcades (and later for SNES and Gamegear).... I just can't really get into them... they either move too slow or control too sloppy (or in NBA Live 06s case... both).

NBA JAM!!! woo i remember that....
booooommshakalaka! :D

too bad that was degraded into games like nba ballers and nba street. i miss doing like 6 or 7 flips in the air just before dunking with a ball thats made of pure fire, and right after the the dunk.... the glass breaks into a million peices.

so i guess its safe to say the ps3 and revolution will be getting all the next year sports titles like nba2k7/madden07/live07/etc.?

this looks damn good once you get over a few things (the crowds, the waxy feel, the glowing orange basketball)...besides that, it looks supurb! looks way better from what we have seen out of the nba live xbox360 shots.

I don't like sports games, but that does look very nice. Funny thing is, it should actually look a decent amount better when they add anti-aliasing to it (not sure why they haven't yet, do developers still not have access to the DRAM in the console?). Aside from the jaggies and some slightly odd lighting and cloth effects, the game could almost pass for a real basketball game if it was broadcast on TV.

Ditto. The only sports games I enjoy (and even then, not for an extended period) are soccer ones. Still looks very very nice though, but I agree... what's with no AA? We're a month and a half from launch, and I'm sure the EA guys must have final dev kits by now. Surely.

Other than the jersey's sticking up stiffly across their shoulders and some excessive use of sweat, I have to say it looks really impressive. What's even more impressive is this is a first-gen game, imagine what it will look like in 3 years when they have the tools down to a tee.

I'll still stick with PC, this will be ported and look just as nice. I'm not worried.

With XBOX1 launch, it really went down to the wire too. Remember, up until virtually launch day every piece of media on Halo 1 portrayed it as a 15fps chopfest. However, the final product was a smooth 30fps.
