Yeah, a thread which basically amounts to a circle-jerk of ATi fanboys. That's unimpeachable evidence, there.

Last year with my 6800 GT I ran 3DMark05 and got ~2500. Then, I changed drivers, and got ~4700. My in-game framerates remained the same, however. So how to account for the gigantic increase in 3DMarks? Simple. 3DMark is USELESS for determining actual game performance. I've said it a million times here. 3DMark scores mean absolutely NOTHING. Show us some damn in-game FPS statistics, not this meaningless trash.

I'm all about the X1800 kicking the crap out of nVidia, but it won't accomplish that through 3DMark.

i think 3dmark is still full of interest coz it shows which card is faster when its optimized 100% over that software.

...which is a meaningless statistic if the balance of work in 3DMark doesn't accurately reflect the balance of work in real games. It means that 3DM is a fantastic way to compare e-pen0r sizes, but is of limited use in choosing which card to buy.

Honest question... How do you get the idea that thread is filled with ATI fanboys? I skimmed it over and didn't see to many posts that seem to fit that bill. But hey maybe it's just me. :)

Don't deny it Rip, yer a no good, dirty liberal, commie, ATI-wang lovah-bway :afro:

:D

That thread has more people doubting the results and waiting than people doing any kind of jerking of any kind.

ati forums b*tch that all other forums are nvidia biased, nvidia forums b*tch that all other forums are ati biased. It's the way of the fanboy.

I dont see any real proof backing this guy up on his claims of 3dmarks, he doesnt seem like a fanATIc, more like an idiot.

And I'll never understand peoples obsession over 3dmark scores, they are meaningless. Show me in-game frames or stfu. :D

Too bad they'll only be able to make 5 cards that can attain those scores. :D

Even if that's the case the average consumer can still be swayed by such information.

"Wow! [insert NVIDIA or ATI]'s high end is really great! All my friends say so at school, and just look at their world record scores in 3DMark05! I can only afford to spend $100, but [insert NVIDIA or ATI] gets it! They really know what's up!"

That's why 3DMark scores are such a big deal. It's part of their marketing plans.

www.slizone.com used to list 3DMark05 scores showing off NVIDIA cards right up on the front page. Not sure what happened to that. It curiously dissapeared. :hmmm:
