It was weird. I tried installing from source and from RPM. I have RH 8.0. Each time though when I started X, it would crash right away giving me a Signal 11 error. Today I went into GNOME's display (in system settings)...I changed my resolution and also made sure nvidia was selected as the driver my video card was using. Well when I logged out and went back to X, I got the nvidia logo when X started. Also, when I 'lsmod', I see the nvidia kernel as a module. So....Is it working now?? I'm not sure of a way to test it.
That may also be a tip for those of you having problems and are using Red Hat 8.0 (Or Gnome 2.0). Make sure the driver is selected in the display settings in GNOME.
