Whats the difference other then taking advantage of 64bit processing? Is it like FarCry which got a graphics boost or is it just to increase speed? (Like it was any slow to begin with)

Sorry for the NOOB question, but do these 64 bit upgrades (ie Far Cry and now UT2004) need the 64 bit version of Win XP to work or will they work with 32 bit Win XP as long as you have a 64 bit processor and motherboard?

LOL, I didn't mean to imply that you had to put a mirror up. :p

But I'll definitely snag it from 'ya when I get home from work. Thanks a bunch. :)

I have both XP-32 and 64 going on my rig. I'll try to run some benches tonight if I have time.

I wouldn't hold my breath. The XP-64 version is about 10-30% slower depending on resolution used. Granted I only have a 6600 GT and 1 GB of RAM (2 GB is on the way) but the regular 32-bit version running on x64 is still faster. 1280x1024, 2xQ AA and 8x AF is still quite playable.

One thing to remember, though, is that the x64 version uses a DX9 renderer while x86 uses DX8. I honestly didn't see much of a difference from a visual standpoint.

The 32bit version also has a DX9 renderer, but it uses DX8 by default. You can force DX9, but there is no different in IQ or performance. At least that was the case when I tested it last year.

Whenever I try to force DX9 the game crashes. It's always done this so it's not a big deal to me.

You can't. Its the 64bit version of the game which requires a 64bit os. It doesn't look like your missing much though, so don't worry about it. :)

(off topic)

I see you have a PC instead of a mac, welcome back to the promised land. :D ;)
