A lot of people jump ship when new cards come out (especially at the top of the spectrum) to hold the performance crown and it seems that ATi marginally takes the lead in most games, but Nvidia does have new drivers up their sleeves and a lot of overclocking headroom while the ATi seems to be pushed to the max at 625mhz. What are your plans for this generation?

I'm keeping my cards for now. If I were to get the x1800xt I would have to get a crossfire board for Dual cards... and I'm not gonna replace my board for an inferior one.

Unless nVidia ships a next-gen midrange and fast I will be going with an X1600pro/XT.

Not only that, no multithreading in ATI drivers yet... so the performance difference for me would be even smaller

Think its worth going Dual Core now?

Not for my main system. I'm more than happy with what I have now. I may get one for my 2nd system once the X1800XT is available and if they have an AGP version. If they don't come out with an AGP version, I'm not sure. I'll have to re-think things.

Bleh nevermind, after looking at those benchmarks (on the x1000 series), I am completely unimpressed.

Give me a 7600GT nVidia. :(

The 512mb GTX will take back the pie anyway... (i don't think it really lost it actually, can you run two x1800XT's right now?)

I love you guys, :) . I was kind of thinking of switching until the poll came, oh well I can spend that money on a Copperhead, X-Fi, and possibly 2nd GTX.

If anything I'll buy another 7800GTX.

You can't even run a single X1800XT right now....;) But yeah, I'm waiting to see what a 512MB GTX does before I cast final judgement.

Yeah the extra memory should mean the 7800 GTX closes the gap at the higher res's and higher levels of AA. Should be a very interesting comparison. Bring on the 512MB 7800 GTX's!! Man, I'd imagine two of those in SLI would be incredible!

I don't wish to be an nVidiot fanboy, so I won't be. I'd really liked to have seen an ATI product which smashed the 7800 GTX's lead because I really want to see progress in computer graphics and something that would keep nVidia innovating as much as it has been doing lately. I can honestly say the result is quite underwhelming at the moment. ATI has almost merely played catch-up and not taken a clear lead like it should have given the lead time since the 7800 GTX was released.

/edit: and i see the poll results seem to reflect that oppinion very clearly indeed

The only thing I would like is the hdr aa. But then again I think hdr in dod:sc and farcry looks awful anyway

IŽll buy one once it will be available for $200 and Nvidia offers nothing faster. ;)

Nope, sticking with my SLI 7800GTX's. I am sending my ATI cards to my other guys to have.

No way. Every product I've purchased from that camp has flaked out early, leading me to question their QA. It'll take a good amount of time and quality releases for me to look to their products again.

It seems I just had crappy luck, but every time? Why would differing ATi products purchased generations apart from varying batches always have hardware defects for me? I don't know, but I've stopped tempting fate.

I know this is not the case for everyone, by any means. Please don't flame this post or blame my problems on incompetance. I'm a die hard ultra clean freak and a streamlined format/reinstall fanboy and have yet to buy a defective NV product.

That's a silly question. I'm sticking with my 7800 GTX SLI setup. It's definitely faster than any single X1800 XT and much faster than Crossfire, which is a failure as far as I'm concerned. The 7800 GTX still rules in OpenGL games and DOOM III. Let's see how both cards do in COD 2.

If anything i'm getting the upcoming 512MB nVIDIA card .. its hard to switch to ATi CF mobos & cards esp when they are not even available yet!
