I am not sure how many exactly that followed him at any given moment. I was mainly talking about those who traveled every where he went. I am sure that number was lower.

So what is the topic of discussion right now? I'm lost.

As far as Jesus goes, its quite hard to rule out whether the guy was real or not. He was very real. The only debate you can bring up about Jesus was is he who he said he was or was a lunatic. Many people followed Jesus(obviously). Too many for him to be fake. Many people followed Hitler as well, but thats a whole nother topic. My point is Hitler was real just as Jesus. Or are you going to argue Hitler wasn't a real person as well?

Even though there is no solid evidence Jesus ever lived, the anecdotal evidence is so overwhelming in the favor of Jesus having lived that one would have to purposefully blind oneself to say otherwise.

I rest most of my conviction (outside the Bible, of course) on the knowledge that there were Christians during the first century AD, which means they became Christians around the time Jesus would have died. To be a Christian means there was a Christ, aka the Messiah. Had Jesus never lived, he could not have been called the Christ, hence no Christians.

What is sad is that there are people alive today that say the Holocaust never happened.

Comparing the two is totally different things. How you can even say the same thing is ludicrous, but then again what else can I expect.

IMO in 2,000 years from now, people are going to be looking back at us and be surprised there were many people who believed jesus even existed

If anyone had actually read the link I posted which I doubt many have, becuase they refuse, you would see especially all the debates and why people question it.

Try thousands of followers(Remember, he fed on one occasion over 5,000 men, women, and children, and 3,000 on another)....

I get so tired of discussing this issue over and over again whenever a n00b poster come to the PR forums (and he/she thinks they have cornered the market on "Jesus didn't exist theory"), and we always end up with 22+ pages of the same rhetoric.

then dont respond or put me on ignore...if you so tired of it. I love people who complain but still post.

you do know Christmas, really waas a Pagan holiday? Christians just stole it and adopted to their religion. Like most other religions, all religions do is adopt and transform it.

BTW, ever hear of Osiris? Suppoedly he brought salavation to the egyptians earlier about 1,200 years before Jesus was suposedly born.

Ever hear of Dionysus? he did the same thing not only that but he died and was ressurected just like jesus in Greece.

I can go on and on, Christianity just adopted many of the Pagan religions and symbols.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I was completely kidding with my "christmas" quote. I think everyone in this world knows Christmas is from a Pagan holiday. Jesus was not even born on Christmas day, it was just "close enough" to an existing holidy. So yes, been there, know that. :D

I don't put you on ignore list, because you're too funny to take serious. You are less than a sidekick. You're good for a laugh or two (whenever I get busy at work ;))

Close. Christmas was a holiday already, as well as the pagan holiday. This caused a problem since they were celebrated by so many people in the Roman Empire. They merged the holidays, so the army could wage war for a longer period.

The Catholic Church adopted many pagan items. This is one of the reasons for the Great Reformation which created Protestantism.

How can you explain those who died in Jesus' name who would have actually lived and seed Jesus? If Jesus never existed, as you say, then why would Saul (who renamed himself Paul) have allowed himself to be tortured to death for this non-existant man? Certainly, Paul would have known Jesus never lived? What about Peter? Peter was killed by the Romans. Why would Peter have allowed himself to be executed had Jesus never lived. He would have been set free had he merely said Jesus was not the Messiah. Had Peter invented Jesus, he could have saved himself by simply telling the truth.

The cercumstantial evidence for Jesus living is too great to be just ignored off-hand.

We know Pilate was the governor of Palestine at the time. We know the Romans had conquered the Jews. We know Pilate executed a great many people. We know Peter lived, preached about Jesus in Rome itself, as was executed there. We know Paul (who was Saul) lived and preached about Jesus also. These are all people mentioned in the Bible. They all lived at the same time as Jesus. Peter knew Jesus personally. Why would Peter (and the others) die painfully for a man they invented and knew to be non-existant?

They gained nothing from it. No money, no lands, no power, only pain and suffering.

Simple logic says a man named Jesus had to exist, and people believed that man to be The Christ.

He is making a false point again. They did this to get greater recognition of Christmass and squash out a pagan holidy. He is trying to make the case that we took it FROM a pagan holiday. This is not true. Further more his point is rather sad because Christmass is not even in the bible. It is not required to follow this tradition to be a Christians. It however just an observance of Messiah's birth.

Exactly, he makes no distinction between Chatholics and Protestants. It wasn't that the Cactholic adopted pagan holidays. It was that the Catholic church used those pagan holidays to further Catholic holidays. Again his points are false and he has little knowledge except what he learned in college.

The cercumstantial evidence for Jesus living is too great to be just ignored off-hand.
Arguing this with him is useless, after all he did learn this in "college" and we all know only smart people go to college. :D

I asked him this question and he didn't address it. The better question is, did the 12 even exist? If you say no then who made them up? If you say yes they why would all of them exist and only Jesus who didn't exist? Why would they make him up and then die for him?

I'm not Catholic bashing, but does the Bible support the worship of Mary?

Not in any way. In fact the bible says the opposit. Catholics will say they are looking to Mary to pray for them in heaven to God but the bible clearly says that is what Jesus does for us. That is the reason we say in the name of Jesus our Lord amen.
