That's gotta hurt!
The bible says that arguing with people that are not knowledgeable is foolish. I will take that approach from now on.
Well, I'm taking the sinfull route and making fun of them. :D

Yes and we didn't actually land on the moon either. It was a sound stage in Area 51 that had hand puppets and jelly doughnuts for union break time. BAHAHAHAHA!!!1
What you just said is such utter non-sense. There isn't any respectable archeologist that believes Jesus didn't exist. Now put on your tin-foil hat cuz they mind suckers are coming. :udawg: thanks for the laugh.
Actually I studied ancient history in college and took many classes. I have read the classics from gibbons to grant as well as the ancient historians such as Tacitus, Livy, Caesar, Marcellinus
There is never any archaelogists that have any proof. sorry...but show me the prrof?
But we do have proof of the ancient roman cities, and the pantheon and parts of hadrain wall
Yes christianity existed I dont deny that, but it was a cult up until around 300 AD
If it wasnt for Constantine declaring christianity to be the official religion, we would barely know about it today and onyl reason he picked Christianity is because he believed it gave him more power to win wars.
In fact many scholars like gibbons believe christianity is one of the major reasons for decline and fall of Rome

Bollox! Wheres this proof ?Why it's in that rotton old book, and we all know that books never lie. Right.
I really don't want to get into this mess, but I am tired of hearing the constant Christian defence (and I hear it all the time, I work with a Christian and we are always going at it) "Of course it's truth, it's written in the bible."
Just because you all choose to believe it, doesn't make it truth. ;)
My 2 cents.
Heh...and the nice thing about it is, I don't have to say a word.
FWIW I think its despicable that peopel would email you about your sigh.
It is youir faith anf I respec thtat to the utmost.
And I apolsogise for the grammwer, was an earlyk nite out :(
I';; edit when I wake up.
The bible debate always raises the roof.

no offense, but it is clear you have a very skewed and bias perspective on history.
Saying that Constantine is the sole reason Christianity became as popular as it is today is pretty ignorant. Obviously you are some sort of omniscient history god, becasue you know the exact reason why the world's largest religion has become so popular.
The truth is, maybe Christianity is so popular becasue it makes a lot of sense. You don't want to admit that so you use Constantine as a scapegoat in order to get to sleep at night. That's all fine and dandy, but don't go around parading that you are a historical buff and know the exact reason of Christianity's success when you really have no clue.

QFT.
Chistianity is the only religion that has survived for so long and still offer a message of hope. That's why it is so popular. It has not changed. You can debate it all you want, but in the end, the message is still the same.

I wouldn't say its the only religion of hope. I mean "believe or you will burn in hell for eternity" doesn't strike me as hopeful. I know you're biased DD because it offers you all the hope your life needs and I dig that, but all I'm saying is things always look different at a distance as apposed to the middle of them. Especially to the impartial.

To anyone that knows me from Hardforum, knows that I don't believe the Bible is anywhere near 100% true. There is alot of corruption and alot of "government" in the Bible that I don't believe was intended to be there. Anyway its nice to see someone else has somewhat the same views as I do. Normally when I tell people I am religious but don't believe the Bible is accurate... it kind of throws them off. Whats everyones thoughts on this topic?
My response to this article is who is to say what is real and what is fake?
The only thing I don't understand is why Tigerwoody hasn't converted to mormonism yet? I'm only partially kidding... (P.S. Yes, I am mormon)

The hope in the satement you've made is that once you do believe, you will never burn. I guess it's the glass half empty/half full theory.
Jesus said in John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
With that said Sy, I can understand you not understanding the Jesus Christ. What gets me is that people always dismissing something that they have NO CLUE about.

I think I have a lot of a clue, what you consider his glory, I truly believe I see but in a different way. I see it in the joy of living every day. I see it in teh truly limitless pleasure I get from just being alive. I see it when I cna make someone smile or make a difference to their life. It permiates everything, and feeling that joy, that ancient happiness that seems inherent in my favourite animal the humble dog's daily life through innocence... Thats what makes life great. Remembering that in daily life is hard, but knowing it deep down that life is good and full of wonder, is inescapeable.
With that said, I see no reason to channel that through a structured religion, I have that pure joy anyway. I don't need the carrot of an afterlife, it won't improve the way I feel. Just imagine (for a second) that you could feel that glory without feeling it through Him, and you're imagining life as me. The happiness in daily life, the comfort is the same but there is no diety, or requirement for thanks. Just the pure emotion of joy.

You have no clue of what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. You can read all you want and have a professor babble his worthless opinions all you want but in the end you don't know. It would be the same if you said you know what it is to have a child. You don't know and never will untill you have that experience.

Perception is reality, so I can never know your relationship with Jesus. Yet I'm capeable of feeling everything you ever have, and potentially capeable of anything any other human has gone through. How I channel an experience I don't think dictates my potential or possibilities. I know you're constrained by your belief to believe you're relationship with Jesus is higher than any other type of philoshophy... but like the point I made to DD. From a neuteral perspective, that just doesn't hold any weight... nor should it.

But as the rebuttal scripture I gave you, Sy...you can't understand it unless you knew Him....and unfortunately, you don't.
I hate to put a to put a further damper on the parade, but God says that it is not Him that sends a person to hell, but it's the choice of you not accepting Him that sends a person to hell.

Christianity was almost dead if it wasnt for Constantine, sorry but that is the truth, ask any historian. there was maybe only 10,000 followers...once Constantine made it the official religion of the Roman empire, and purged Paganism it was only a matter of time. Basically if you did not follow Christianity you could not get very far
The other reason Christianity spread was becuase of the roads they built in Rome after Constantine made it official, up until that point it was considered a cult.
At one point Constantine was trying to decide between Christianiy and Issis, if he had pick Issis, I bet most Christians today would be worshipping the Sun God. The reason he picked Christianity was several but mainly because he felt people would adopt better to Christianity because they can relate to a personal savior...that and he said he saw the sign of the cross everytime he had a battle.
I really dare you to pick up history books of Ancient Rome. You would really be surprised what you might learn.

That only applies if you believe it in the first place. Perception is reality. What else do we have to base our reality on? Any universal truth can be false if it is not believed in your own head. It is the victim of a given person opinion.

Perception can be deceived, also. What you may think is real, may not be real at all.
There are 2 types of truths: Local, and global.
Local truth is truth that is true to you. Example: It's 78 degrees outside and someone says that it's cold. You look at that person and says that you're burning up. Who's being truthful?
Global truth. At 100 degrees, water boils. That is a fact that can not be argued. Jesus has existed, and IS existing. That is a global truth. Because you do not except this doest not make it any more true-r (:D), or not. God does not need an individual to believe in Him for Him to exist.

Are you saying that Christianity was made poppular by Constantine? ROFL!!! I always thought that JESUS made it popular. Oh well, you learn something new everyday.
