Those could just be what the orginial clocks were supposed to be for the R520.

They first need to get some crossfire mobos & CF edition X1800XTs to test that.

I think they were going to be 500/1300 till Nvidia
slapped the 7800GTX out on the market.
The XL with 12 or 1300 memory and 500 core would
have done fine if all nvidia had was the 6800ultra.

ATI has lost this round for sure. A very late product
that's still not here and the performance is not all
that great even at super high/hot speeds. ;)
It's easy to see this with ati having to use a dual slot
cooler all over again.

I wanted to see before I jumped and got a 7800GT
but now I know what card is going in my next rig.
It's sure not an ATI product. "lol" :angel2:

I don't know, sure max fps the it's not very good, average fps is about on par, but min fps the X1800 cards come out on top. After all it's the min fps that is more beifical. Nothing quite so bad as having your fps hit 20 in the tightest situation.

FWIW, to help you get better educated on the situation....

"Although, publicly, ATI representatives wouldn't lay blame on exactly were the issue existed, quietly some will point out that when the issue was eventually traced it had occurred not in any of ATI's logic cells, but instead in a piece of "off-the-shelf" third party IP whose 90nm library was not correct. Once the issue was actually traced, after nearly 6 months of attacking numerous points where they felt the problems could have occurred, it took them less than an hour to resolve in the design, requiring only a contact and metal change, and once back from the fab with the fix in place stable, yield-able clockspeeds jumped in the order of 160MHz"

Ok, now thats funny.
But it doesnt say anything about, ati reducing pipes to 16 from 32..
I wanna read more on that.. why did the pipes get reduced to 32.. or did the 32pipe r520 exist?

Must be truth if ATi said it. Of course nothing was their fault.
