I just got my second 7800GT today and I'm not so sure that it's working properly. I set it up in bios, Windows detected it and installed the drivers, I can see it in the control panel, but I think I'm missing something. I'm not really seeing any gains in any of the games I've tried. I tried playing Far Cry, which I've heard doesn't really take advantage of SLi, Half Life 2, F.E.A.R. SP demo, and 3DMark05 which I scored 7609:eek: I'm using the 81.84 drivers which made a huge difference for me in F.E.A.R. even before the second 7800.

Is there something in the profiles that I should be looking at? I've never used profiles before and just started playing around them today since I've had this problem.

Some of the games will have predefined profiles with the mode of SLI already defined. Some won't. For FEAR, you'll have to create your own and you should just about double your framerate. You should see a big jump in your framerate with HL2 as well.

I had better luck with Far Cry by removing the predefined tag in the

c:\windows\system32\nvapps.xml

file and changing the mode of SLI.

You may also want to check out nHancer. It makes managing the profiles and SLI modes a little easier.

Oh, you also need to use some form of coolbits or nvtweak to enable the changing of SLI modes. With that, I think you just get to choose single-gpu or multi-gpu and don't get to choose the mode.

Thanks for the help! I installed nHancer and it does make managing the profiles easier. I figured out my problem though...I had to uninstall the display drivers and reinstall. After I did that, everything worked like it should. My 3DMark05 score shot up to 11650 :D F.E.A.R. runs great now too! I'm able to play it at 1680x1050 with everything maxed out, expect soft shadows, with 2xAA and 4xAF and I never dip below 40fps. I guess when I added the second card and Windows set it up, something was off.

Thanks again for the links and the advice!
