I recently got a 3700+ SD in hopes of getting a good solid OC out of it
well my chip blows :thumbdwn:

It won't do over 2.6 worth anything...
After I get ether a R520XT or 7800 512MB i'll have enough parts left over to build a nother computer...

how high would i have to clock a 3000+ venice to get any improvement over a my current chip?

I would just be putting the 3700+ SD in my second computer

Not much higher, A 3000+ at 2.7 is faster then FX55 on some benches, but it also could have troubles OCing, remember theres always a chance at a bad chip.

Yeah a 3000+ at 2.7 would be sweet but you'll need some good cooling and some good luck. I got mine to 2.7 but it gave a lot of glitches (understatement) in games and it was a bit too hot for my liking (though Im using the stock heatsink). Surprisingly, I wasnt getting blue screens or any fatal errors. 2.7ghz with the maximum voltage I could set and a stock heatsink. 900Mhz overclock out of the box? F*ck yeah :D

I turned it down to 2.5 though because I wanted it 100% stable and a bit cooler. If I run into a CPU bottleneck some time I'll just buy a better heatsink and bump it up some more. For now though, whats the point? If youre having a CPU bottleneck with a CPU this fast, you need to turn up the graphics settings to stress the video card more ;)

Im stuck running at 2.3 due to my PSU dropping volts at high levels of stress when im higher then 2.4.

What Stepping, week, and code is yours?
Mine is a CABGE 0522XPBW and i hit 2.7GHz with stock voltage (1.35~1.40)

Have you tried setting the multi to like 6 or 7 and seeing how high your ram will go?
