View Full Version : Windows Wont Install Geforce 6200

Good Day,

Here's all the error messages I'm getting while trying to install the card:

First. when I boot my PC I see my Video card on the Upper Left corner of the screen.

Then when the install New Hardware Wizard comes up. I clik next, I give the path to the driver & clik next. I see some file being copied but when it finishes I get the following ERROR:

CANNOT INSTALL THIS HARDWARE
THERE WAS A PROBLEM INSTALLING THIS DEVICE
NVIDIA GEFORCE 6200
AN ERROR OCCURED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE DEVICE

THE PARAMETER IS INCORRECT

I then get a pop up at the bottom right saying:

AN ERROR OCCURED DURING THE INSTALLATION OF THE DEVICE
YOUR NEW HARDWARE MIGHT NOT WORK PROPERLY

Then from the ADD HARDWARE WIZARD I get:

THE DEVICE IS NOT CONFIGURED CORRECTLY (CODE 1)

I also used the little program that unistall all the drivers from NviDia.

Hope this helps... That's the best I can describe my problem here...

Don't use the hardware install wizard. Just download the forceware drivers from nvidia's website directly and install those.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
So when I boot my Pc & I have the new hardware wizard I just cancel it ?
..And what do you mean by Forceware ? Do you mean the Newest driver. which is 78.01 or something.

Just download the driver from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_78.01.html (assuming you have windows xp) and just open the file after the download finishes and follow the instructions to install the drivers.

Hi, It Still does not work !!
It still says Cannot install this Hardware.
Can my Motherboard accept this card ?
I have Asus tec P4B

Just to be clear, the 78.01_winxp2k_english.exe gives you that message, not the windows wizard, right?

You are not using anything that windows tries to load automatically. Cancel all of that, and then only run the driver executable you downloaded.

Good Day,
My motherboard supports 4X AGP & this card is 8X AGP.
Does this card is able to run at 4X AGP or is that my Problem?

Thats fine (AGP8X cards run on AGP4X) boards.
Now, From windows-->control panel--> add/remove programs uninstall the current nvidia drivers.

Now, with your card, you must have got a CD.
From that CD, Go to drivers section on the CD, and install the drivers from there, meaning Ignore the "WINDOWS New HW found notification" that pops up, and Double-Click on Setup.exe from the CD to install the drivers.

Try updating your chipset drivers for your motherboard, and BIOS is any available on ASUS' website.
