I need some help answering a question of mine. I looking at upgrading from win 2000 sp4 to windows XP and did not know what benefits I would have if i went with pro insted of home. (i.e. what pitfalls does Home have vs. pro, and is it worth the $50 price difference?) Also should i just wait for Vista to come out and then upgrade? any help, be it opinions or not, is fully welcomed.
This will help you decide;

Well if it's for home use, just get the Student version of Pro. Microsoft will allow anyone to purchase and use it, aslong as it's not used for business activities. Plus its almost half the price of the home version.
I would suggest Pro, more security features, but if you're not worried about it that much, then Home. *cough*bittorrent*cough*

i prefer professional, but theres inst that much of a difference. if $50 is something you rather save, just go with Home, u get most of the same features anyway
A link that describes the differences between Home and Pro.
