Im wondering which setup would provide the MOST FPS in games.

2x 6800Ultra's SLi
OR
1 7800GTX

If this question has been beat to death, im sorry......

A single 7800GTX is faster in some situations.

in most cases is the 7800 better though? Or keep what I got and wait for maybe the 512MB cards?

I would go with the GTX and then SLi that baby when the prices drop, possibly around the time when the ATI flagship card drops to coincide with Hell freezing over or the second coming of Christ.

Even that 6800U SLI are faster in some situations .. the 7800GTX takes the title for overall faster card & esp by price/performance ratio.

Personally, I'd go with the 7800GTX, just for expansion capabilities, as, in terms of performance, the two setups are seemingly evenly matched.

Wouldnt the GTX also be the cheaper option?

Pricewatch says ...
1×$463.99 for 7800 GTX is less than 2×$308 for a pair of refurbished 6800 Ultras.

(Damn, I better sell my Ultras now if I want to get my $600 purchase price back. Naaaah.)

It does not matter which is stronger. Sure you could get a 7800GTX now have twice the power of a 6800 Ultra, then SLI that with another 7800GTX when prices drop to have quadruple the power of a single 6800 Ultra. By that time, the 8800GTX will be availible and have twice the power of a 7800GTX, If you were to wait till that becomes cheap enough to SLI that to obtain quadruple 7800GTX power, the 9800GTX (funny how this number can't really be associated with nvidia) will be out. Then so on.

SLI is realy an ingenius way to get people to by the same video card twice.
