eVGA has recently put out two new 6600GT's that has dual-DVI out's and supports up to 2560x1600 on a DVI out. The 128 meg version has recently been listed at Newegg, but I found a 256MB version (http://www.evga.com/products/moreinfo.asp?pn=256-P2-N420-TX) on eVGA's website. Think there's a chance it'll come to market? (it's listed as "Notify Me" right now). This may be the midrange card I'm looking for...

If they have a part number, it should be available presently. However, new EVGA releases are often available on Newegg before the EVGA corporate site.

Here's to hoping. I have a feeling this is going to be my card.... I'm disappointed it doesn't get the Lifetime-even-through-overclocking warranty though... Oh well, 2 years is good enough, I most likely won't be using this for 2 years. :p

I don't think anyone has proven via benchmarks that the 256 meg version of a 6600GT would be much better than a 128 meg version of a 6600GT.

256MB card = Battlefield 2 smooth at high detail

128MB card = skipping and pausing at high detail

The same goes for any game that uses a large amount of texture memory at high details.

The card will still be hampered by a 128-bit memory bus. Though a comparison between the cards would be interesting since the 6600 GT has higher clock rates than the standard 6600.
