Was just pricing up a system, think this is the best performance i can buy for £1600? (Actually its £1649)

Intel Pentium 4 830 (3.0Ghz) DualCore "Smithfield"
Asus P5ND2 SLi Deluxe nForce4 SLi PCIe Mainboard (LGA775)
2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400 RAM (2x1Gb)
Samsung SpinPoint 2x200GB SATAII
BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC 256MB GDDR3
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS Edition
Logitech diNovo Laser Media Desktop
Antec P180 Advance Super Mini Tower Case
Antec NeoPower 480W ATX 2.0
Plextor PX-716AL Dual Layer Slot Loading 16x4x DVD±RW ReWriter

Been away from the PC area for a bit, I would have looked to AMD but i heard they are still using DDR1 and i dont fancy buying into RAM that i might not be able to use on a next system ect.

Would a single 7800 GTX be faster than say two 6800's in SLI?

Actually scrub that, remove the 7800GTX and add 2x 7800 GT's - Also remove the SoundCard and add Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (the other was just a splurge) instead.

As for the 7800GTX or 6800 SLI question, check out these couple of threads.

Most will agree that the single 7800GTX is the way to go for now. You don't have to worry about getting SLI going for now and you can upgrade more easily/cheaply later on.

The rest of that setup looks ok to me :). I like that Antec P180 too.

So no Dual 7800 GT's? Just one 7800 GTX? Didnt realise the GT had 4 less pipelines and a missing vertex actually.

Is the nForce4 the best chipset to buy into? I think i should pay a visit to tomshardware for the first time in a while :S
