They achieved the record speeds using a custom-built liquid nitrogen cooling system. "We're just warming up," joked Kurri. "But we believe that the Radeon X1800 XT has even more over-clocking headroom, and in the coming weeks we expect to achieve higher clock speeds and even greater performance levels."

Now where's the benchmark results- AND CROSSFIRE???

Actually 1 ghz / 2 ghz has already been achieved some days ago... and sampsa managed to get 12419 IIRC with 882 / 976 so there... cpu was FX-57 @ 3,6

 you wished but it utter IMPOSSIBLE to run 3D games and benchmarks at 1GHz core, it caused Windows XP unstable and Sampsa (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1094819#post1094819) managed to achieved 1GHz in 2D desktop, huh that not much to say and not exactly impressive. Sampsa said the X1800 XT's 3D reached the limit at 860MHz core but couldnt run 900MHz core due to Windows very strange behaviours caused 3D Mark 05 to crashed everytime he tried to ran it. 860MHz core is the same clock someone been achieved with 7800 GTX months ago scored much the same 3D Mark 05 scores as X1800 XT at 860MHz.
Face the facts, nobody ever able to run X1800 XT's 3D at 1GHz core.

Exactly.Let me order myne now.......
(not taking anithingfrom this guys that OC theyr card to infinity and beyond (Tm) but camon...)
When will this card be FINALLY out/available?
(not that i wanna buy it). im jus fed up of hearing stories of a king, who isnt there for the people he is meant for.

I want to know is, if these cards are so easily overclock-able why did ATI clock them so slow? You would think they would have pushed them to really kick NV's butt.
I have to ask, will the retail cards clock like this?

easily? If LN2 coolng is considered an easy task, yes.and good luck with running at those clocks 24/7 (wich is what gamers do).
these LN2 OCs should mean nothing to anyone who wants to buy a highend Graphics card.
we should see how people can OC two of those under Xfire in a case with closed door -->ON AIR.would there be any headroom without insane heat/noise/instability?Noooo.ATi was trying to clock these chips as high as possible to be competetive with nVIDIA,that was exactly what ATi CEO said.so you should be able to guess how much headroom is left there in those chips.
check my sig and many others in this forum to see two 7800GTXs in SLi under air cooling doing nice OCs without noticable heat/noise/Vmods.
ATi has to do alot of catch ups to be able to be competitive with nVIDIA in Multi VPU and availability departments.

oh, I'm already sold on sli, I have two setups 7800GTXs and 6800Us, both slightly over clocked on air . I was commenting on how some of the reviews state these cards clock very well on air.
I have a feeling when the actual cards do ship, they might not clock as high as everyone is hoping.
I just hope this pushes NV to keep on pumping out great hardware.

I've heard fumes from burning $600 video cards can make you impotent.

It will probably out in end of November but only in very limited availability that a number of people can buy at very high prices but lots of people will be finally able to buy readily available X1800XT next year for a few months until R580 come.

Look at their products listing, only 1 out of 9 X1800 XT products. Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB will be the first brand card shipping to Overclockers UK next week, they hoped to allocated 100 cards for November but Gibbo said it could be less or more. Gibbo mentioned that Overclockers UK have 100+ X1800 XL in stock now, for near 1 month on not many people ordered it so they probably wait for X1800 XT, it could be sold out next week then the rest have to wait for next shipment by end of November.
How much are those nitrogen cooling setup anyway?

Around $2000 with CPU and GPU cooling kits (http://www.overcool.com/Exec/product.asp?userid=06018051488848&item_id=31236), liquid nitrogen storages (http://froogle.google.com/froogle_cluster?btnG=Search+Froogle&hl=en&oid=11436671199504825549&pid=4781559748883476726&q=liquid+nitrogen&scoring=p), connectors and liquid nitrogen steel cold trap (http://froogle.google.com/froogle_cluster?btnG=Search+Froogle&hl=en&oid=1309295808174738945&pid=4851679075716471294&q=liquid+nitrogen&scoring=p). Sampsa had bought 3 liquid nitrogen steel cold traps that must cost him around $3000.
