This is disgusting.

Really, name one DX9 title that you could run MAX settings (16 x 12 resolution, max AA/AF, and max IQ) on a GF FX or older card. There isn't one.

Okay, how about DX8? Name ONE DX8 game that you could run at max settings (again, 16 x 12 resolution, max aa/af, max IQ, and even enable vsync) on any GF4. Do the same for the GF3 and DX7, etc. Never did happen. Even with the Voodoo series.

Back in those days, we were playing at 800x600 with maxed IQ settings and VERY LOW (if any) AA/AF- even with 3Dfx's SLi.

Now, on a single card setup, name a single game that must be run at 800x600 to be enjoyable? There isn't one (save for maybe the GFFX 5200 ;) ). Even my girlfriend's Ti4200 can play F.E.A.R. at a higher resolution than that. She can safely play F.E.A.R. at 1024x768 medium/low IQ settings.

I currently own a single 6800GT (AGP) and I can play SoFII @ 16 x 12 with 8xAA/16xAF, vsync enabled, and all IQ maxed, and I get 60+ fps. Name a single Voodoo or GF4 that could do the same back when SoFII was first released.

Don't blame the game makers, blame nVidia, they made SLI.

No, they didn't- 3Dfx did.

Ok so two sets of gtx's will be connected with that sli bridge, but how will they both communicate to each other... through the pcie bus? Wont that starve the bus if each slot is only 8x?

When SLI originally debuted Nvidia, the PR distributed included pictures of a larger bridge that spanned 4 cards in addition to the 2 card bridge.

Yeah, I recall seeing a pic of that somewhere. Can you imagine the cooling (and noise) such a setup would have? And unless there are 2xGPUs a PCB (only two cards that way), adding a beefy sound card or such would NOT be an option. Hmm... the trade offs.
