View Full Version : Sound Blaster Complete Removal?
Does anyone know of any guides on a complete removal of SoundBlaster drivers? The only thing I know to do is run the uninstall and use a regcleaner to remove anything related to Creative in the registry. Oh, and to delete the Creative directories. Are there any files that are still in the c:\winnt\system or c:\winnt\system32 directories that need to be vanquished also?
Thanks,
Phyre
check out creative labs website, they tell you how to do it there :baaa::
I'm not answering you question directly, but I finally got sick of driver problems with SBLive and switched to using the on board sound chip which incidently sounds just as good and is slightly faster than the SBLive. I just disable the SBLive in DeviceManager and havn't even bothered uninstalling the drivers, they just don't do anything. I think that if you physically remove the hardware and uninstall the drivers you should be just about done for a clean system.
Rant: The latest and second latest SBLive drivers both have serious bugs in different games for me, one causes windows to crash on shutdown, the other causes bluescreen crashes during gameplay 100% reproducable. Please don't ever buy Creative Labs products again. My Creative WebCam is a whole different bad story...
I went ahead and got a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I have to say this card is really nice. It's much better than the SBLive. The EAX effects are much better too. Counter-Strike is much more clean, and the directional sound is awesome. RavenShield is also much more clean and the sounds are far more distinct. It's not a bad card for the price.
