Quake3 Nforce2 Audio prob

Anyoen know why my nvaudio isnt working in quake3.. it works fine for everything else..but when it comes to quake3.. theres no sound :(
anyone have any eyedeas?

Being that the nForce2 board uses i810 sound drivers, you will not get sound with the ALSA drivers. Read it somewhere that the i810 lacks something that prevents Quake III from playing proper sound with the ALSA drivers. Not sure about the OSS drivers though.

Found this out when trying to get sound playing on a ECS K7S5A board which audio is also based on the i810. Popped a now cheap SB Live! card in there and all is well.

I actually ran Q3A with both the ALSA and the older i810 drivers. In both cases, I was equally disappointed with the audio quality. I ended up dumping ALSA for now, however, because it would lock my machine from time to time--whether I used an SB Live! or the nForce audio. That crashing was probably application dependent, though, so others' results may vary.
