Just curious if anyone has any feedback on Battlefront II. ROTS will be in my grubby paws in a few hours, and I'm wondering whether the game is worth the expenditure.

Thanks in advance.

I'm eagerly awaiting responses from people who have played this as well. I'm picking up ROTS, and have am looking for a star wars game that isnt a MMO!

With Quake 4, UT2k4, BF2, I am pretty swamped with shooters, but i'm holding out hope that my beloved movie franchise can pull out a decent large scale online shooter.

Can they?

Ya it did... :( Considering everything else that is out, it was disappointing.

I got screwed on the first Battlefront with the completely crippled multilplayer out of the box. I won't make that mistake again, I shake my fists and gnash my teeth at this sequel.

I bought this on Saturday and have been playing it quite a lot over the last few days.

My initial impressions weren't good; I had a quick go on Hoth in Instant Action and it felt like almost nothing had been changed since the first game.

However, I've since been playing through the Campaign mode and I've been really enjoying it. The story and missions are interesting, the ground maps much better than before, with proper objectives this time, and the space maps are great fun if a little samey. Being a Jedi and fighting Jedi does actually add a lot to the game.

Haven't tried multiplayer yet, but the bots are decent as they were in the first BF though I have spotted one or two getting stuck on walls and enemies seemingly ignoring me sometimes.

The first game didn't quite live up to its promise but the sequel has made some good improvements. It takes a while to fully appreciate the changes and it still needs some bug-fixing, but overall I've been impressed so far.

Hmm, I didn't know you could play it offline. Since that's the case, I may pick this one up.

could you compare it to bf2?

could you compare it to bf2?The gameplay has some similarities but the setting makes a big difference - I couldn't get into the desert combat theme of BF2, whereas Battlefront 2 has the more interesting Star Wars sci-fi setting, a good offline campaign and lots of variety in maps, missions and vehicles.

It isn't as realistic, in-depth or tactical as BF2 but I personally think it's more fun.
In the Campaign mode for instance there's some great moments such as when you earn a Jedi and leap on top of a spider-walker then bring it crashing down. Or when you land your star fighter in an enemy ship's hangar and set charges to blow it up from the inside while your team attacks with fighters and bombers outside.
There are also some good plot "twists" linked to ROTS that might make you question whose side you're actually fighting on and even feel a bit guilty...

It might not be a groundbreaking game that lasts you months or really stretches your PC, but I've found it surprisingly good fun so far and a lot more interesting than most recent shooters.

Is it true that there's no air vehicles on ground levels this time?

BTW, the Xbox version got some great reviews from UK where the game was released a few days earlier.

Good enough for me. Thanks for your comments.

Today was a pretty sad day; the last time I'll ever buy a Star Wars movie. You know, before the numerous re-releases.

Installing the AMD dual-core drivers and hotfix from M$ fixed their problems. It's not the game.

Both of these games are too technically trash for me to enjoy. I'm definitely a proponent of gameplay over graphics, but general tech extends beyond that. Both battlefronts are amazing games trapped in 2001.

Game design, physics, feel, and yes graphics.
