The wife is wanting a digital camera for Christmas, mainly because I've told her that its possible to create a DVD photo album/slideshow that she can share with family/friends (who can watch it on their TV/DVD player).

Now I need to make good on the idea.

I know very little about burning DVD's...I dont even own a burner yet, but I'm looking at this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152052

It comes with Nero software, which I am familiar with insofar as burning CD's, but not DVD's.

I wonder if the Nero software will let me create DVD photo albums/slideshows?

Is there perhaps a better software that I should consider (something very inexpensive and simple)?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

The bundled Nero in that package is 6.6. Nero 7 or Sonic MyDVD have really good wizards for slide shows as well as mixed presentations(slides and movies mixed). You can set your chapter lengths in both as well as select from a bunch of cool transitions. Pinnacle is good, too. I think the shallowist learning curve is probably on the Sonic product though. Good luck. I love multi-media stuff.

Well, if you want, you could get the NEC 3550 OEM for $0.01 more...
