I will light a candle for the students and faculty of the University of Idaho.
I wonder if he blows up at his students like this when they question him. So far, I'm not impressed with the faculty at Idaho one bit.

Well, there are going to be bad professors no matter where you go so it's not really fair to blast the entire school based on one person. However, I would think twice about going there for computer science that's for sure (not that it really matters to me since I graduated almost 4 years ago :p ).

Get over yourself dude and lay off Muya. Whoop-ti-freaking-do about this University of Idaho yammering. The University of Idaho? Who cares? I graduated from Purdue University, am a Senior Web Application Developer, am MCAD.NET certified, etc, etc, but you don't see me or other sensible folks here rattling that stuff off because NOBODY cares. (omg) It's self-aggrandizement at it's finest and just really lame in general.

Others with 6800GS cards do not share the same problems you're having, yet you seem to dismiss that all of them just have juiced cards or aren't installing patches correctly? Riiiiight. I think this all comes down to PEBKAC in your case.

Did you do the proper sequence of patches? Just the 1.33 patch alone
is only a PB fix. You need the 80 meg 1.30 patch to make Far Cry
up-to-date with the Benchmark tool. Also, did you see the difference
between "outside environ" and "inside buildings" environ? Weird that
you are getting such high FPS too. My results are much lower FPS
.. although acceptable. It is the "inside environment" that really
concerns me ... and shows up in CAD 3D Presentation Graphics also.
That makes the card all but unusable in this Engineering lab.

Concerning the application of patches 1.30, 1.31, and 1.32, there are instructions. But to be honest I have used HardwareOC's benchmark suite a number of times and I am familiar with them as well as others in running benchmarks using Far Cry.

Did you run the in-game benchmark using the instructions that MikeC posted?

Compared to your posted results mine does seem high. If I use the XFX card the results will probably be around 7% higher. I could put the card(s) in an Intel machine but the results would be approximately 3% lower. To the point, I cannot duplicate your problem and I suggest you contact the card's manufacturer if you have not already done so.

well i have my gs and i run on 12... x 1024 and i can run fear at full, and it runs really nice, i also have water cooling, and volted bios but i still get 6000+ in 3d mark so right now its at the default clock. Quake 4 runs great when you turn everything up and run it at 85hz, the only program this card cant handle is maybe BF2 loaded and some parts of serious sam 2
