I also like the look of the Viewsonic VX924 19 Inch LCD...Great for gaming (if your not looking for 1600X1200) with 4 ms response time and 550:1 Contrast Ratio..

yeah, if you want widescreen, but I think I'd much rather have the Dell 2001 (I think that's the model) 20.1" LCD with 1600x1200 resolution, unless the widescreen was the 2405. Man, I am buying one next year when I get my tax returns and profit sharing from work.

I should seek to get my phone turned into a monitor sales hotline :D

I've been kinda toying around the idea of a WS LCD for a while now... My FE2111SB is nice, but so bulky.

I have a relatively small desk so I think the 2005 works well for me.

Maybe once graphics cards can push high res at high frame-rates I'll graduate to bigger screens.

So whats the difference between the 2001, 2005, and 2405? Are they all WS? Difference sizes, reponses? I would do a search but I'm too lazy :) Is the 2405 the biggest and baddest right now?

2001 = 20.1" standard 4:3 monitor - 1600x1200
2005 = 20.1" Widescreen monitor (I assume 16:9) - 1680x1050
2405 = 24" Widescren monitor (I believe it's 16:10) - 1920x1200

Samsung 21" 214T

Panel PVA with overdrive
Resolution 1600x1200
Contrast 900:1
Brightness 300cd/m2
Responce time 8ms
Viewing angles 178/178
DVI

Samsung 19" 970P

Panel PVA with overdrive
Resolution 1280x1024
Contrast 1000:1
Brightness 250cd/m2
Responce time 6ms

For 19", I recommend the Viewsonic VP930
It's the best all round monitor I've seen.

This model replaces the 3rd generation VP191. So google for reviews of VP191 and VP930.

I personally recommend the 2005fpw (see sig)...widescreen makes your desktop seem much bigger since you now have more horizontal room.

Wow thanks for all the responces, I think its between samsung & dell even though im not a huge dell fan, so the dell's have lill to no ghosting?

Even though the grey-to-grey response time on the 2001FP is rated at 16ms ghosting and streaking is very minimal. Since the 2005FPW and 2405FPW response time is lower than the 2001FP ghosting and streaking is even less of a problem for them. If you are going from a very high quality Flat Screen CRT (Trinitron or Diamondtron screen) to an LCD you will notice black levels on the CRT are superior to those of an LCD. Of the 3 Dell LCD screens mentioned the 2405FPW does the best at displaying true black. A lot of custom PC builders cringe at the thought of owning anything made by Dell but you just can not beat the price/performance ratio that Dell offers in the LCD market!

Yes its gray-to-gray.

Dell just slaps its brand name on the product, they don't manufacture the LCD panel it uses. There's very little ghosting, perfect for gaming. Widescreen (16:9/16:10) is more natural to our eyes than 4:3/5:4 so the screen appears larger. If you're worried about losing screen real estate though, just go for the 2405FPW and never look back. Only issue issue still really prevelant with all LCD's is you won't get true black. This is a limitation due to the current LCD panel manufacturing process. Just make sure you calibrate it before use and its livable.
