Uh?
You people don't deserve a new driver.
Again silly arguments, fighting over stuff that doesnt matter. Can we focus on getting the dirver instead of the mechanics of 64 bit. We dont deserve a new driver who are you to judge? every person who buys 64bit or a great video card is not computer literate, does that mean they cant have the driver they want? Geek ego is a disease my friend, we all want the same thing. So all of you stop fighting over this and lets look at the driver that we want.

The few people around here running FreeBSD x64 seem to think 64 bit = double the speed, and they need to run it to get their money's worth. I suggest you educate yourself a bit before demanding nvidia waste time and money on this instead of improving the other platforms first.
I do enjoy how you keep repeating the same thing in the same thread. 64bit is not double the speed, if you do use amd64 you should know this except ports of precompiled i386 binary applications everything else is 64bit. Does this mean its double the speed no? Okay maybe everyone here doesnt truly understand 64 bit but enough with the mockery. Do you even use 64bit os? I do and i want nvidia drivers for my pci e graphics card.

Sure, I need to repeat it because new posts and threads with the same misconception keeps popping up. I didn't really understand what you were getting at in the rest of your post.
The problem is, on my Via kt800 board I even can't get the i386 driver to work. Yes, I'm running i386 (RELASE 6.0) on an amd64 because then I can run openoffice 2 and (well, at least I hoped) the nvidia-driver. But, if I try to enable the nvidia-driver I get this dreaded message:
NVRM: AGP cannot be enabled on this combination of the AMD CPU and OS kernel
NVRM: kernel upgrade recommended.
Does this still exists in 8174? Will there be a legacy driver for FreeBSD without this error? I'm using FreeBSD/i386 on my Asus A8V Socket 939 (amd64) and nvidia-7174 still gives that error and no agp-module can be loaded.
@Steve`: no, the 1.0-8174 NVIDIA FreeBSD graphics driver has a workaround for this problem. An updated legacy driver release is planned for the near future.
I'm I right when I think the updated legacy driver will have this workaround also?

Yes, it works now! At least the error is gone and it's loading and starting. No crashes so far, but still way too much cpu-usage for playing dvd's or camcorder movies in kino. I'll have to open another thread on that one.
Yes, but I think you are using 1.0-8174 or higher. I need the legacy version. Hopefully there will be a workaround also.
