Nero. Or Alcohol 120%, but I need to play with that more (PSSST! REVIEW COPY!)

I use both. Nero is great for making audio CD's with CD Text (thanks, Baron!). ECDC is fine for creating data CD as well as Mp3 CD's. Try them both and find out which one you like better.

Don't laugh, I use the CD writing capabilities built into WindowsXP to burn data CDs and audio CDs. Not very featured, but simple and it works.

Otherwise, I'd probably say go Nero. Have used both, perhaps not the latest versions of each and they do a great job with minor interface differences. A bunch of other shareware/commercial programs exist if you want even more choices, such as DiskJuggler and GoldenHawk (or something?).

Matty--yeah, there's something other than Nero. Alcohol 120... imagine, if you will, a mix between Nero, CloneCD, and Daemon-Tools. Scary, ain't it? :p

And now you know why I want it. :p

Back when I had the $600 2x HP SCSI burner from Hell, I used Easy CD Creator to master CDs for computer books... :D

The big thing is that you can't make menus in Nero.

Having used both, I definitely prefer Nero. You can just do so much with it, but can also keep it newbie friendly.

I'm with Ed on this - both programs are fine depending on the project. Nero is just excellent and fast because it doesn't have eye-candy, unlike Roxio. However, if I'm burning a mix CD, Nero always puts that damned 2 second gap between tracks no matter I do so I use Roxio EZCD for mix and MP3 CDs.

The first MP3 CD I made with Nero was a disaster - I recovered about 90% of my MP3s I had burned but the remaining 10% couldn't be accessed because of CRC errors. Made me really hot because it was the last few MP3s on the CD...mainly Yes, Whitesnake and ZZ Top.

"Homeworld" survived but "Yours Is No Disgrace", "Roundabout", "Velcro Fly" and a few choice others didn't...

Psycho--there's a way to fix that. I'll post it later, out the door right now...

Basically, add your tracks, select them all in the Audio1 window, right click, go to Properties, and change Pause from 2 to 0.

Voila, no more pause. :p

But with ECDC, all you have to do is select Disc-at-once for recording audio CDs. And voila - no pause whatsoever. :p ;)
