My monitor is a old hunk of sh!t that supports a max res of 1024x768 @60hz but I was messing around with the drivers the other day and i tried these settings and they actually worked. I have tried higher res's before but it never worked but this time it did. I watched the fifth element in 720p and it worked fine. I was just wondering if these settings are fataly harming my monitor because I have little hopes of obtaining another before christmas,
Is your monitor widescreen?? I'm not sure how you are able to view a wide aspect ratio with a standard 4:3 monitor.

I've seen this before. I have an analog LCD rated at 1024x768 native resolution, but somehow it is usable at 1280x768 set within NVIDIA drivers. I have no explanation, unless the analog section is somehow compressing the signal to fit within the hardware's actual resolution.

But wouldn't it still just look like this? (all squished)
yea, but still how can you view widescreen on a 4:3 monitor, any pics of it in action?
