And if the claim is false wouldn't ATI be open to a law suit?
I don't have a clue on what would/could happen there, any lawyers here ?

this whole ATI thing cracks me up.. but at least since my GPU1 runs at 75 under load, i'll have almost double the life span of it! thansk ATI, for letting me know when to start saving up for a new card, a new nvidia card that is

I love lifetime warranties :D
But the over voltage thing really bugs me so I hope they answer this claim by ATI. And if the claim is false wouldn't ATI be open to a law suit?
The probability of a law suit occurring is the same chance of nVidia users taking action on the PureVideo fiasco, which is none. All talk, no action, no effect on NVDA stock.
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking this isn't an all out war.
I wonder if either companies actually believe their own presentations. Looking at these slides, you find some broad statements that are so fantastically false it makes the head spin. When ATi talks about having better high end availability and their so-called faster products, it really makes one wonder what's going on up there in Canada. But naturally, both companies fall into the same rythm. One recent gem from nVidia compared HDR IQ using Serious Sam 2, a game which is obviously bugged on ATi's cards.
nVidia's the Bush and ATi's the Kerry, and it's all so God damned annoying.
Oh, and why does ATi still believe the MSRP for the XT 512 is $549? Did they not enforce the move to $599 themselves?

I agree it's really annoying, but at least nVIDIA has something to offer us.
OMG!
Fanboys never try to quit do they. ATI fans are worse than Christians. I never seen Nvidia fans sling this much dirt. Maybe because Nvidia fans don't have a need too.
Only sore losers fling this much dirt. :P
Both ATI cards and Nvidia cards are extreamly powerfull, and unnessasary for a game to be fun. And thanks to all ya fan boys, there will be a new card released every few months.
This means more freaking FPS games. The last thing the PC gaming industry needs is more lame FPS games. Think about it. Would FEAR, COD2, Half Life 2, or Doom 3 compelling to play if you had to dumb the graphics down to play on a Geforce MX or Radeon 9000? I know very well most of ya would not.
HL2, Doom3, Far Cry? No video card geek cares for these games anymore. Why? Because the graphics is already outdated. The game play was not enough to keep people playing it. In otherwords they sucked. The only purpose of these games was to pat your own back for running it better than other people. Now that new games requiring even faster cards or dual cards
have been released, Video Card geeks purchached new cards and these games to bench them with for the very same purpose.
Botom line is that you can make fun games that can run perfectly with Geforce 4MX or ATI Radeon 9000. Which is why people still play Diablo 2, Star Craft, Command and Conquer, and MMORPGs with lowend video cards from 2 to 3 years ago.
What PC gaming really needs is a new genre. It has had none in 5 years.

I got this reply from nVidia about the 1170h MTBF:
This is a marketing strategy of disseminating negative but vague or inaccurate information about NVIDIA based products. The mis-information stems from the usage of 125C operating temp. GPUs nor CPUs get that hot in real world use. There is nothing to worry about and in any case the card manufacturer would warranty their product.
And we all know what gpu runs hotter ;)

You obviously don't know what you are saying. There is nothing that can be compared between the two and only proofs your ignorance toward Christians.

BTW, if nVidia is desperate, how come it's ATI that is desperately insisting (http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=31&threadid=1736369&enterthread=y) that their next gen products will smoke the (currently available) 7800 GTX? Just look at all the ATI fanbois there. How anyone can claim that ATI didn't get absolutely pwned this generation is beyond me.:screwy:
Nobody got pwned. As the dude a little way down said, both are very fast, and this frequent new product, and comptetion (re: price war) can only be good for consumers. Besided, no "normal" people actually buy these high-ends anyway.

To tie in with the ATI 1 year warranty. I totally undertand ATI's move to do it, since they basically send you new card regardless how messed up/modded it is.. and do it using express shipping too. And all those 9200/9500/9700 they have to keep stockpiled for RMA is just stupid. Each RMA'd card is 1 less card a user could have bought from ATI.
IF that 1000hr thing was true, I really wouldn't mind. It would just be a new card every few months. Afterall, lifetime warranty right. But, I should caution that one of my PNY GF4 with "lifetime warranty" was refused RMA because the card were no longer on the market, and hence end of their life (they said they would refund BestBuy or whatever big store if I could find one there)... its not YOUR lifetime, it the CARD's lifetime on the market.
Just a friendly FYI.

That was the case with PNY but I don't think it's the case with some of the other lifetime warranties.
From BFG:
BFG Technologies is proud to warrant the original purchaser of the graphics card included in this package ("Product") that the Product will be free from defects in material or workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the product, when given normal wear and proper usage. This warranty is valid if the product:
From XFX:
Here's the deal: We will repair and service your 6-Series or 7-Series Graphics Card for as long as you own it. All you have to do is register the card with us online. And, should you sell or transfer the card, we'll honor the warranty for the card's second owner, too, as long as they register it with us online. You get protection AND the added value of being able to pass along a full warranty with the card should you sell or otherwise transfer it. Now that's a Double Lifetime Warranty!
Nobody got pwned.
Well, ATI sort of did since they were so late to the game, then were only marginally faster than the 7800 GTX 256, then were trumped by nvidia before they really even got the XT out in any quantity.
ATM the only ATI card that I would even consider buying is the X800GTO because it seems to perform very well at a good pricepoint, but at every other price I think nVidia has the better cards. Sure, there can be some debate depending on IQ, availability, etc but in general ATI got owned: this generation.
Hooray for X-Mas smilies!

well first off, comparing them to Christians is just plain ignorant. how many Christians have you seen 'fling dirt'? seems like you form your opinions based on what you see on television.....
also, people dont care about HL2, Doom3, or Far Cry any more because they beat those games already, so it seems pointless in playing them. tbh, i still see a bunch of people ask what kind of frames different cards get on HL2, Doom3, and Far Cry at different settings. also why do reviewers keep putting frame rates for those games if no one cares?
oh well, my two cents....
