I have been reading about the 500 different AA and AF modes and all this and i just got a new computer. I just basically play BF2 and COD2. I was wondering if there was a page that tells you which driver settings to choose in the game profile under the nvidia driver settings screen. Like i went to tweak guide and got what the ingame settings should be but i dont know what i should set the hardware too.... here are my specs and any help is appreicated....

BFG 7800 GTX OC
10K RPM 74 GB raptor
Asus A8N-SLI
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
2GB Crosair ram....

Based on your specs, I would recommend the following driver control panel settings.
Make sure you are viewing the advanced settings so you can access all of the settings.

Antialiasing settings - Application controlled (unless you want to force 8XS)
Anisotropic filtering - Application controlled (unless you need to force)
Image settings - High quality (change to Quality to get better performance)
Vertical sync - Off (change to On if you notice screen tearing during gameplay)
Trilinear optimization - Off (automatically forced to Off under High quality)
Anisotropic mip filter optimization - Off (automatically forced to Off under High quality)
Anisotropic sample optimization - Off (automatically forced to Off under High quality)
Gamma correct antialiasing - On
Transparency antialiasing - Supersampling
Negative LOD bias - Clamp

I was bored :)

Plus, I didn't want to see another brain explode. It gets messy when that happens.

Does Transparency & Gamma correct AA have much of a peformance hit ?
I haven't experimented with these settings just yet
TIA

I don't seem to notice any performance hit on my system.

Good to hear, time i started playing around with these settings and see what they do, i was under the impression the trade-off was lower performance when enabling these modes.
cheers

I'd encourage forcing vertical sync for every app that doesn't have an implicit setting for it, but that's me. I discovered that I don't like tearing long ago and I for one will never go back.

I don't understand the act of enabling all of these super-fancy (sometimes barely noticeable) effects and leaving half a frame ripping because there's a possibility for a performance hit.
